Two World Series contenders that haven't gotten on track face off. I've been burnt by Chris Sale and his brutal start to the season, but here we get the Sox as an underdog with him on the mound. He'll face a Yankees team that's hitting just .196 against LHPs, not to mention only .225 at home, averaging 3.6 runs per game. Sale himself has a sub-2.00 ERA at Yankee Stadium. The Sox offense isn't much better, but against LHPs they're hitting 80 points higher and the lineup is .279 against James Paxton in his time at Seattle.

Well I feel mostly comfortable with that but let's just throw out in writing how effing good this kid is (he'd be ALL we discuss pitcher dominance-wise were Detroit circa Leyland or in NY, Boston, LA)...his FIP is a 1.02 through 3 starts. DeGrom's FIP after the All Star break last year was 1.53.
Continuing with the company this kid is keeping...only Snell induces more swings and misses going for 17%, correspondingly he is second only to Blake in contact%.
Several items in addition...but we get this pitcher...at home...and (as of right now) still getting plus money!

Continuing with our method of following pitching analytics and applying it to the situation...tonight we have some serious Bieber Fever! Kluber's hardware, Bauer's off field shenanigans, Carrasco's nasty repertoire all get the recognition and pub from Francona's starting rotation, but looking ahead...just maybe...this is the true stud taking the mound tonight. Bieber has one of the best sliders in the game and if he is able to throw the fastball by hitters and/or pepper in his curve and change to an already insane lack of walking hitters and ability to keep the ball in the park.
The favorite has flipped in this game...or is damned close and i recommend hopping on the Bieber train earlier than later!

The total in this game is just a little too high as these are two of the most efficient defenses in the NBA this season. The Under has gone 4-1 in their five meetings this season, including Game One of this series.

So far this season the two starting pitchers in this game -- Nick Pivetta and Steven Matz -- have done a good job of getting ground balls and limiting fly balls. It's a lot harder to score runs with ground balls. This total should probably be at eight, so with it up to nine, I'll happily take the Under.

When Stephen Strasburg is on, he's tough. That's happened only once in three starts this year, but hte Giants' offense is about as bad as it gets. San Fran is hitting a league-worst .169 against right-handed pitching, and its 2.4 runs per game on the road is obviously not good. The Nationals can score, and Giants starter Dereck Rodriguez hasn't been as effective on the road, including his one outing against these Nats, giving up five runs in 2.2 innings in 2018.

Kyle Gibson has been very disappointing for Minnesota this season, but he's been successful against Toronto in the past, and last night's victory aside, the Blue Jays are still hitting just .221 on the road with 3.4 runs per game. The opposite rings true for Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez, who has been solid but has been hit against the Twins. When the Twins are favored around this number, they're 2-0, while the Blue Jays are 0-4 as an underdog between +108 and +138.

Mike Minor has been great his last two starts, allowing one run over 14 innings. He was great against the Angels last year, and this year L.A. is the worst team in the majors against lefties, hitting a brutal .170. On the road, the Angels are hitting .191 while averaging three runs per game – less than half what the Rangers average at home. Look for Minor to keep it going and for the Rangers to get to Angle recent call-up Jose Barria.

Colin McHugh has been a strikeout machine so far for Houston. He's also been an Athletics dominator over his career. Not counting Marcus Semien and his relative success against McHugh, the rest of the A's lineup is a lifetime 10-of-77 against him (.130). The Astros' offense hasn't generated many runs on the road, but they're hitting at a higher rate than the A's do at home. Marco Estrada was shelled by the Orioles the last time out and didn't last any longer than five innings in two starts against Houston last year, allowing eight runs in 9.2 innings.
