Game 1 was a “push” on the total, while Game 2 went “over” the number in the Stars’ 4-2 victory. With the shift in venue, I think we’re finally going to see a very tight, lower-scoring defensive battle in Game 3. These are two of the stingiest clubs in the league, each backed by one of the best goaltenders in the World. Both the Blues and Stars have advanced to this point on the backs of their respective netminders (Ben Bishop of the Stars, whose save percentage is second in the playoffs and Jordan Binnington for the Blues, who leads the league in most statistical categories). Additionally note that St. Louis has seen the total go under in 13 of 19 this year after a loss by two goals or more in its previous contest, while Dallas has seen the total dip under in 21 of 27 after scoring four goals or more in its previous game. This number is a little high in my opinion.

Key Trends:
- The Blues are interestingly 15-18 (-8.2 units) in their last 33 after playing three consecutive home games.
- The Stars are 7-3 in their last ten following a win by two goals or more.
The verdict: Dallas severely outshot the Blues in Game 1, but it ran into a hot goaltender in Jordan Binnington. Ben Bishop’s numbers have been just as impressive for the Stars though. Dallas has the better offense, as evidenced by its break-through 4-2 victory in Game 2. Now on home ice, I think we’re getting unbelievable value on the “better” team. Consider the Stars in Game 3!
