I'll take my chances here with Houston as a small favorite against the Angels to kickoff the short 2-game series in Mexico. The Astros just lost 3 of 4 on the road to the Twins and are just 3-5 in their last 8 overall. Houston will be motivated to kick this slump, while LA is riding high off a 3-game sweep of the Blue Jays. I just think this has the Astros priced right. Houston will have Wade Miley on the mound and he has a strong 3.24 ERA and 1.140 WHIP in 6 starts. Angels will have Trevor Cahill going for this one. He's got a 5.93 ERA and 1.352 WHIP in 6 starts overall and a 9.49 ERA and 2.028 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Give me the Astros -130!

This was supposed to be the James Harden revenge series, but so far the Rockets have been grounded over the first two games. After struggling with the Clippers, the Warriors have had their way with Houston so and I’m expecting another battle until the end in Game 3. Beyond Harden, the Rockets lack scoring depth. Houston’ guard Chris Paul, who was so crucial in his team’s near “de-throning” of the Warriors in last year’s Playoffs, has been a shell of his former self this season. Golden State lost DeMarcus Cousins to injury in the first round, but it still has the best player on the planet in Kevin Durant playing for it. As good as Harden is, he’s still lacking the talent to get over the hump this year. While the outright win isn’t out of the question, in the end I’ll recommend grabbing the points. Consider GS in Game 3.

Saturday comp play is the Under in the Warriors and the Rockets contest.
Seems like a year ago these teams last played, as their second game of the series played in Oakland comes back on Tuesday night in a game that just did inch its way Over the posted price.
The Over has not been a given when these 2 offensive-minded teams meet, as even with Tuesday's Over, 3 of the last 4 between these Western Conference rivals have held Under the posted price. In fact, including the postseason, these team are 9-2 Under the total for their last 11 get-togethers!
The Under also happens to be 20-7 the last 27 times the teams have played one another in Houston.
The Warriors have played 5 of 8 this postseason Over the total, but on the flip-side, the Rockets have held Under the total in 5 of their 7 playoff games thus far.
With Steph Curry still dealing with a tender ankle, and now a dislocated finger on his left hand, and with James Harden trying to shake off the effects of a pair of eyeballs getting scratched up but good the last time out, perhaps we can shave a few points off of both players averages.
The total for this game still seems a little high to me when you consider the Under-laden trends that I just mentioned in the text up above.
I will look for both teams to be in the low 100's here, and for this game to hold just Under the posted total, as the Under moves to 10-2 for the last 12 series meetings.

First game on the card in the American League for Saturday, and if pitching is your "cup of tea", then sit back and watch Jake Odorizzi and J.A. Happ do their thing as this Minnesota-New York Yankees contest holds Under the posted total in the Bronx this afternoon.
Odorizzi has been a revelation, as he has turned in winning efforts his last 3 trips to the hill, as he has worked 18-plus innings with just 3 earned runs allowed. His last start was a scoreless 7 frames of ball against the Houston Astros with just 4 hits allowed and 7 strikeouts recorded. 2 of those 3 starts have played Under the total as well.
Happ has been warming up with the weather, as his last 3 starts have seen 21 innings pitched with just 5 runs allowed. He just tossed 7 scoreless innings in his last start at San Francisco, and 2 of his last 3 starts have also played Under the posted price.
Last night's game did make its way Over the posted price, but the Twins are still 5-4 Under the total in their last 9 games contested overall. Meanwhile the battered Yankees lineup has been Under in 2 of their last 3 games played.
Odorizzi's did make a start against the Yankees last September in a 3-1 Twins win. That game obviously holding Under the posted price.
With a pair of pitchers on top of their games as they hit the hill today in the Bronx, and with the Twins being held to just 3 runs last night, look for Odorizzi and Happ to work into the later innings with minimal damage done by the batters.
I am backing this matinee in the Bronx to hold Under the total for Saturday.

Oakland clobbered the Pirates 14-1 on Friday to snap a 6-game losing streak and my money is on the A's to carry over that momentum with another victory on Saturday. While Pittsburgh's Trevor Williams has a solid 3.38 ERA in 6 starts, he is coming off a bad outing at the Dodgers, where he gave up 5 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings.
As for the A's, they will have Chris Bassitt on the mound and he's been outstanding in his first two starts of 2019. Bassitt has allowed a mere 1 run on 5 hits with an impressive 16 strikeouts in 12 innings of work. I look for him to have no problem keeping Pittsburgh's offense in check. Pirates are only averaging 3.2 runs/game and hitting just .234 as a team on their home field this season.
Pittsburgh is also just 2-9 in their last 11 overall and have gone just 1-7 in their last 8 off a loss. Pirates have also dropped 6 straight at home and 5 in a row vs a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Take Oakland!

Despite the Game 4 loss the Blue Jackets have gone 13-2 in their last 15 and over that span they’ve allowed only 2.00 GPG. Note as well that Columbus has scored just eight goals in this series thus far. Boston is 32-15 at home this year and it’s given up just 2.10 goals over its last ten games.
The pick: Take it for what you will as well, but Columbus has seen the total go under in 25 of 37 this season in trying to revenge a loss vs. an opponent, while Boston has seen the total dip under the posted number in 18 of its last 28 after scoring four or more goals in its previous contest. This number is high in my opinion.
