Sunday free play is the Astros on the Run Line over the Red Sox.

Last night Boston was able to score a pair in the top of the ninth to ties Houston at 3-3, but the Red Sox bullpen could not protect the tie, as the Astros walked it off on a game winning RBI single for the 4-3 win, as Houston has now won 5 of the 6 season series meetings over Boston.

Houston is now on a 17-4 overall run their last 21 games, and they will give the baseball to Justin Verlander who is fresh off a season-high 12 strikeouts over the Chicago White Sox in his last start to improve to 8-1 on the season with a scant ERA of 2.24. This will be his first start of the season against the BoSox, with his last being that loss in the decisive Game Five of last season's A.L.C.S. Can you say REDEMPTION?

Eduardo Rodriguez will oppose Verlander, and the fact that he is 0-2 with a 9.90 ERA in his 3 career starts and is also coming off a bad-looking loss to the anemic Toronto Blue Jays - 6 runs allowed on 6 hits in just 5 innings of work - does not bode well for the Sox to salvage this series on Sunday afternoon.

Verlander does his thing, and the 'Stros do their thing at the dish against Rodriguez.

Houston by 3 runs on Sunday.

3* HOUSTON -1 1/2 RUNS

White Sox vs. Twins

MIKE LUNDIN'S WHITE SOX @ TWINS FREE PICK

The Minnesota Twins own the best record in baseball at 35-16 and they're a perfect 7-0 in right-hander Jake Odorizzi's last seven starts.

Odorizzi (6-2, 2.38 ERA) hasn't allowed a run in four of his last five starts, covering a total of 30 1/3 innings of work. He owns a respectable 3.41 ERA in six career starts against the White Sox who counter with right-hander Dylan Covey.

Covey (0-3, 5.31 ERA) is 0-2 with a 5.30 ERA in four games (two starts) against the Twins and was tagged with four runs in four innings in a loss at Houston on Tuesday. The White Sox are 3-18 in Coveys last 21 road starts and they've lost six straight matchups at Target Field.

The Twins are 7-0 straight up and against the runline as a home favorite of -200 or more in 2019.

Free pick on Minnesota Twins -1.5.

Mariners vs. A's
A's-137

My 1* Free Play is on the Oakland Athletics (4:05 EST).

Oakland’s won eight straight and I think it carries that momentum over here vs. confirmed “gas can” Mike Leake.

"We're confident, and everything is clicking right now," Oakland center fielder Ramon Laureano said confidently after yesterday’s 6-5 victory. "Just keep it rolling."

Leake (3-5, 4.73 ERA) is 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA in nine starts vs. Oakland.

A’s starter Brett Anderson (5-3, 4.14) is 8-5 with a 2.38 ERA in 20 career starts vs. the M’s.

Note as well that the Mariners are already a terrible 2-9 (-6.4 units) this season as a road dog in the +125 to +150 range, while Oakland is a solid 11-5 as a favorite this year.

I like Anderson to continue his dominance in this series and I expect Oakland to keep the good times rolling with another solid victory at home. Consider the A’s on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck…Larry

BEN BURNS
NHL | May 27, 2019
Blues vs. Bruins
Blues+1½ -195

The Bruins have been impressive with a 40-20 record in the second half of the season and playoffs. However, the Blues have been every bit as hot (42-22) as the Bruins in the second half. They're 4-1 their past five; the lone loss came by a single goal. While both teams have had an extended break, St. Louis has had a reasonable amount of time off while Boston has had "too much" time off. Indeed, the Bruins haven't played since May 16th! That said, I'll note that the Bruins are just 1-6 the past seven times that they played with three or more day's rest. The last meeting was decided by a single goal, a 2-1 win for the Blues. I see another close one. While I'm comfortable laying the extra juice for the valuable +1.5 goals, I also like St. Louis' chances of winning this one outright. Consider the Blues.

DWAYNE CONNORS

Sunday comp play winner on the Over in the Baltimore-Colorado series finale.

The teams combined for 14 runs on Friday, and then combined for 15 runs last night, as both weekend meetings have landed Over the posted price.

For Baltimore, they have now played Over the total in each of their last 6 games, while Colorado has now gone Over in each of their last 4, 5 of their past 6 and 7 of their last 10 overal.

David Hess enters this start with a 6.75 season ERA, and the Over is 6-2-1 in his 9 season starts.

German Marquez is 5-2 with a 3.38 ERA, but 2 of his last 3 starts have played Over the total.

I get the feeling Marquez will keep Baltimore to about 3 or 4 runs, while Colorado will light up Hess in a big way.

O's-Rockies Over the total for Sunday.

Reds vs. Cubs

1* Free MLB Pick on Cincinnati Reds +150

I really like the value here with Cincinnati as a big road dog against the Cubs on Sunday. These two have split the first two of the series and both teams are swinging a hot bat. The Reds have scored 21 runs (at least 6 each) in their last 3 games. Hard to lose games when you are scoring at that kind of a clip.

If the offense keeps it up, they could run away with this thing. Cincinnati will have Tanner Roark on the mound and he's got a strong 2.81 ERA and 1.187 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Reds have also won 4 of his 5 road starts.

There's also a great system in play favoring a play on the Reds. Home favorites of -125 to -175 that are slugging at least .430 are a mere 24-41 (37%) on the money line after a game in which they scored 8 or more runs. That's quite the 63% system on a dog in this price range! Take Cincinnati.

CHRIS JORDAN

My free play for Sunday is the Los Angeles Dodgers on the Run Line against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

We have a huge mismatch in this National League battle, so why not take advantage with this blowout play.

MAKE NOTE: All Run Line/Total plays automatically list pitchers with the starters who are scheduled to go at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the starters of record on your ticket when making your play: Kent Maeda and Chris Archer. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

Let's start with Maeda, who is 5-2 this season with a 3.51 ERA, Maeda will see his first action since sustaining a left adductor contusion on May 15. That's the inside of the upper leg area for those unaware, they pull the legs together when they contract and also help stabilize the hip joint. The last time he did start, the right-hander struck out a season-high 12 in that game while tossing 6 2/3 scoreless innings against the Padres.

Considering how bad the Bucs have been, I think Maeda will shine in this spot.

The Pirates are 10-13 at home, the pitching staff has an ERA of 5.93 over its last 10 games - during which they're 4-6 - and they've been outscored by 18 runs in that span. Now they face a hungry Maeda in his return.

The run support will give us the run line win, as the Dodgers offense has bed red hot during an 8-2 run and outscoring teams by 28 runs.

The Dodgers will chase Archer early, as Pittsburgh's right-hander has allowed 11 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits and six walks over 8 2/3 innings in two starts since coming off the injured list. And he's already lost to the Dodgers while pitching with an injured right thumb on April 26.

Look for Maeda to dominate and that well-balanced lineup to help us win on the run line.

Tigers vs. Mets

Jack’s Free Pick Sunday: Tigers/Mets UNDER 8 (-120)

Two underrated starters go at it today when the Detroit Tigers conclude their three-game series with the New York Mets. It’s a Tigers team that is scoring just 3.4 runs per game on the season and 2.9 runs per game against right-handed starters.

Zack Wheeler hasn’t been as dominant as he was last year, but he certainly still has electric stuff and his numbers will drop as the season goes on. Wheeler has 70 K’s and has only allowed six homers in 62 2/3 innings pitched this season.

Spencer Turnbull has been the best starter for the Tigers this season. He is 2-3 with a 2.68 ERA in 10 starts this season, including 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA in four road starts. He has 54 K’s and only five homers allowed in 53 2/3 innings.

The UNDER is 4-0 in Turnbull’s last four road starts. The UNDER is 13-5 in Tigers last 18 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The UNDER is 6-1-1 in Mets last eight interleague home games vs. a team with a losing record. Bet the UNDER in this game Sunday.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Cleveland Indians -104

We are getting the Cleveland Indians cheap at home tonight. That’s because Trevor Bauer has scuffled in recent starts, but he’s still one of the best starters in the American League. Bauer is 4-3 with a 3.95 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 11 starts this year with 80 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings. Bauer is 1-1 with a 2.57 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in two previous starts against Tampa Bay, the last of which went for a complete game in a 6-1 victory. The Indians are 43-20 in their last 63 during Game 4 of a series, including 7-1 in Bauer’s last eight Game 4 starts. The Rays are 0-5 in Stanek’s last five road starts against a team with a winning record. Give me the Indians.

JACK BRAYMAN

Three nights back my 40 Dime Winner was on the Minnesota Twins. The last two nights they were my free winner at home against the Chicago White Sox after a successful road trip.

Guess where I'm headed? Back to the Twin Cities.

The Twins have smacked 10 home runs the last three nights, after hitting six against in Anaheim on Thursday, and four the past two nights against the ChiSox. The six against the Angels marked the fourth time this season they've hit at least six in a game. Perspective: The other 29 teams in baseball have had three of those such games, combined.

The Twins are on pace to hit 324 home runs, which would shatter the major league record of 267 set by the New York Yankees last season.

To say Target Field will be rocking for this series finale is an understatement. I'll play them on the run line against the Chicago White Sox.

Though pitchers are automatically listed when making Run Line wagers, I am insisting you DO NOT worry about who the scheduled starters are. In the event of a scratch, you MUST re-wager the game with the new pitcher(s) who are scheduled. This play will stand no matter who pitches for either team.

The Twins, who are 10-3 against teams from the American League Central, are in first place in the American League Central, with a 35-16 mark. They've won 10 of 13 thanks to a batting average around .300 in that span, while the lineup has provided pitchers with a run differential of +51 runs.

The White Sox, meanwhile, have a paltry batting average of .219 in their last 10 games and have been outscored by 30 runs in that span. Chicago is also struggling with a 12-15 mark on the road.

Play the Twins on the Run Line, as they continue their offensive barrage.

5* TWINS RUN LINE
__________________

TONY WESTON

My free play is the Houston Astros Run Line against the Boston Red Sox.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the registered starters on your ticket when making your wager: Justin Verlander and Eduardo Rodriguez. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

This is cut and dry, isn't it? Pretty easy to decipher?

Verlander is eight strikeouts away from tying Cy Young for 21st all-time in MLB history. Verlander, who has 2,795 career strikeouts, just held the White Sox to one hit in eight innings in his previous start Tuesday. He's 3-0 with a 0.82 WHIP in his last three starts, and will be pitching at home on a Sunday afternoon against the defending World Series champs.

Can it get any better?

He'll get the run support, as the Astros are 20-6 in home games, and they've belted 91 home runs this season, which ranks third in the majors.

They'll attack Rodriguez quick, as he's struggled against left-handed hitters and has returned the drawing board for answers. Problem is, this is the last team you want to look for answers.

Houston, which has won seven of 10, is led offensively by Alex Bregman's 15 home runs, and has seen a surge in hittind from Josh Reddick.

This will be too much offense for Rodriguez, while Red Sox hitters will struggle against Verlander.

Take the Astros on the Run Line.

4* ASTROS RUN LINE (-1', +115)
