I am certainly not surprised the Stars are leading this series, here is what I said prior to Game 1: "The Blues beat the Winnipeg Jets in the first round mostly as a result of Jordan Binnington out-playing Connor Hellebuck. They face the Dallas Stars in the second round, and I don't think they can count on superior goaltending in this series. Ben Bishop ranked 1st in the NHL in save percentage and second in GAA during the regular season. Here in the playoffs he ranks second in both categories behind Robyn Lehner of the Islanders. They may not have covered on Friday night in that epic four-overtime affair, but the Blazers did survive with the outright, and now a short 48 hours later they will drag their tired bodies onto the floor at the Moda Center and look to take a 3-1 series lead against a Denver Nuggets team that also has to be NOT ONLY physically tired, but a little mentally frazzled after coming up short in such a long contest.
With that win, Portland has now won all 4 of their home playoff games thus far, 12 in a row overall since the regular season, and now stand at 32-9 straight up in front of the home crowd. As for Denver, they dropped to 21-24 straight up away from their friendly home floor at the Pepsi Center.
My biggest takeaway from the history-making game on Friday was the bench play of Rodney Hood who was the savior of the game for the Trail Blazers with his 19 points - and fresh legs, while Enes Kantor continues to fill the big man role solidly with 18 points and 15 more rebounds - all of this with a separated shoulder! There was also a Maurice Harkless sighting, as Harkless shook off an ankle injury to deliver a 15 points, 10 rebounds evening.
As for Denver, their backcourt is just a notch below that of Portland's as the advantage in this series is clearly with Damian Lilliard and C.J. McCollum. Look for Terry Stotts to continue to rely on Dame and C.J. to pace this team at home tonight.
I think it's fair to expect both squads to show the effects of that draining game on Friday, and had Denver been back at home to try and get back up off the hardwood after such a heartbreaker, I would consider backing them, but this one is once again on the road where the Nuggets are not even a .500 team, and it's against a team that has protected their home floor in 32 of their 41 contests this season. Yes, the points do make it a bit tricky, as the Blazers could not cover the -4 last time out, but tonight I see them covering the number with a few late clinching points from the free throw line.
Back Portland as the home favorite.

The Detroit Tigers have dropped six of their last eight games despite averaging a decent 4.00 runs per game over that stretch.
Here they'll face Royals right-hander Brad Keller (2-3, 4.07 ERA) who has been far from solid in recent outings, allowing five runs in back-to-back starts against Tampa Bay and he has walked three batters or more in each of his last six outings.
The Tigers will hand the ball to Spencer Turnbull (2-2, 2.53 ERA) who has allowed just one earned run in 17 innings over his past three starts. We can however note that the right-hander has failed to make it past the sixth inning in any of his six starts here in 2019, and Detroit's bullpen will surely be depleted after using five relievers in Saturday's 15-3 defeat.

Zack Greinke (5-1, 3.27 ERA) has been on fire of late, but I think he’ll predictably have his hands full in this difficult road venue. Arizona has won four in a row and nine of its last 11 and it’s scored 19 runs while winning the first two of this series.
German Marquez (3-2, 2.93) will be tasked to snap the D-Backs winning streak. He’ll also be looking to help the Rockies recover from losing five of their last seven. Not surprisingly Marquez has been better on the road than at home, but note that the Rockies are a solid 80-48 in their last 128 as a home favorite.
I think the venue makes these starters a “wash,” but I believe the “hungrier” team is going to find a way to get the job done at the end of the afternoon. Consider the Rockies to salvage the finale of this three game set.

I'll take my chances here with the Diamondbacks, as they go for the sweep of the Rockies on the road, as well as their 5th straight win overall (9-2 Last 11). Arizona is not only playing great baseball, but they will have their ace on the mound in veteran Zack Greinke. After a bit of a slow start, Greinke has been outstanding and owns a 0.44 ERA and 0.677 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Usually you fear for a starter when they have to make a start at Coors Field, but Greinke has really pitched well in Colorado over his career and it certainly helps that he's facing the Rockies after a game where they managed just 2 runs on 5 hits. Also, Colorado's German Marquez has a 5.29 ERA and 1.706 WHIP in 3 home starts and is facing a Diamondbacks offense that is averaging 6 runs and hitting .280 as a team on the road this season. Give me Arizona +128!
