10* FREE MLB PICK (Under 8.5)

I'll take my chances here with the UNDER 8.5 in Thursday's NL afternoon showdown between the Braves and Padres. This has been a low-scoring series so far, as each of the first 3 games have seen a combined score of 7 or less.

Padres will turn to Matt Strahm, who has a 3.04 ERA and 1.012 WHIP in 5 starts, which includes an impressive 1.69 ERA and 0.875 WHIP in 3 road outings. Atlanta will counter with Mike Foltynewicz, who had a pretty decent first start of 2019 last week. Foltynewicz gave up 4 runs on 6 hits, but only walked 1 and struck out 5 in six innings. San Diego has only scored 6 runs on 16 hits in 3 games so far this series. Give me the UNDER 8.5!

MLB | Rays vs Royals
Play on: Rays -151 at 5Dimes

While the Royals won both games yesterday, the Rays should have the edge in this one. Morton is off a gem last time out. The 35-year old limited the Red Sox to two hits through six shutout innings. He's now 3-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 1.13 WHIP on the season. Through 32 2/3 innings, he's recorded 39 K's. In three road starts, he's got a dominant 1.72 ERA. On the other hand, Duffy will be making just his second start of the season, after struggling in his first. Through five innings, he recorded just one strikeout, giving up five hits while walking three. Yesterday notwithstanding, the Rays have been excellent on the road. They should bounce back here. Consider Tampa.

NBA | Raptors vs 76ers
Play on: Raptors -1 -110 at Mirage

1* Free NBA Pick on Toronto Raptors -1

Toronto had by far their worst offensive performance of the postseason in Game 2 and still had a realistic shot of winning that game. I just think after how easy it was for the Raptors in Game 1 (won 108-95), they came out a little flat in Game 2 and just couldn't recover. I'm not saying Philly didn't play better defense. They did. However, Toronto also just didn't make shots they normally make.

The one thing that remained constant for the Raptors was their defense, which has yet to allow an opponent to shoot better than 42% from the field in any game. They have held the 76ers under 40% in both games. They have also not allowed more than 96 points in any game since Game 1 of the first round against Orlando.

That defense is why I like the Raptors to go into what will be a very hostile environment and get a win. You also have to factor in that the 76ers are playing with a less than 100% Joel Embiid and he's the guy that makes it all work for them. Take Toronto!

NBA | Raptors vs 76ers
Play on: Raptors -117 at pinnacle

This is a Free NBA play on the Toronto Raptors.

I took the Raptors to win this series, and I like them in Game 3 coming off a terrible home loss in Game 2. The Sixers shot 39 percent from the field and scored 95 points in their Game 2 win, and that says a lot about just how bad Toronto was offensively. While you have to give Philly credit for their play on defense, you can bet the Raptors will be better here in Game 3. Here is what I said prior to Game 1:

"The Raptors were 3-1 against the Sixers during the regular season, but perhaps the most significant thing about the regular season series was that Kawhi Leonard didn't play in the one game that Philly won. The Sixers were 31-10 at home this season, but they had a losing record on the road. I am not convinced that this team is all that different that the team that lost in five games to Boston in last year's East Seminfinal. They lost all three games at Boston, and they lost Game 1 by 16 points. While they have since added Jimmy Butler, the health of Joel Embiid is in question. The Raptors on the other hand look a lot better with Kahwi Leonard and Marc Gasol than they did a year ago."

Take TOR.

MLB | Red Sox vs White Sox
Play on: Red Sox -167 at pinnacle

1* Free Sharp Play on Red Sox -167

My money is on the Red Sox to cash in an easy win here on the road against the White Sox. Boston comes in off a 3-game sweep of the A's and will be catching Chicago the day after playing a double-header. Also, starting pitching edge is heavily in favor of the road team. Boston's David Price has a 2.00 ERA and 0.944 WHIP in his last 3 starts. White Sox starter Lucas Giolito has a 6.75 ERA and 1.750 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Bet the Red Sox -167!
