My 1* Free Play is on Texas (8:05 EST).
A mismatch on the mound and at the plate makes the home side well worth the price of admission in this spot in my opinion.
Texas has won ten of its last 14 and I don’t believe there’s any reason not to think that it can’t carry that momentum over here in this favorable match-up. Note that this is the first game of an 11-game home stand for the Rangers.
Texas also comes in off a thrilling 8-7 win over the Mariners on Wednesday afternoon: "We just keep fighting. That's a great thing, that your ballclub resembles that kind of fight, no quit, day game after a night game,” manager Chris Woodward remarked.
The home side hands the ball to Mike Minor (5-3, 2.55 ERA) who gave up one run off five hits over six innings in an unfortunate no-decision to the Angels last Saturday. Note that Minor comes into this one on top form, having given up just four runs over his last three starts.
Minor has to be feeling confident here as well vs. the Royals as he’s 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA in four career starts vs. them.
The visitors counter with Jakob Junis (3-5, 5.58) who most recently allowed three runs off six hits over six innings in a no-decision to the Yanks on Saturday. Junis is 0-3 in his last four trips to the hill.
The Royals have lost six of their last seven and things aren’t going to get any easier in Texas on Thursday night. Consider the home side in this one.

The Milwaukee Brewers will visit NL Central rival Pittsburgh Pirates for the opener of a four-game series at PNC Park Thursday night. Pittsburgh has dropped six of its last seven at home, and I think we're getting the visitors at a good price in this matchup.
