Play - St. Louis Cardinals w/Hudson vs. Nola (Game 904).

Edges - Cardinals: Hudson 3-0 with 3.52 ERA at home this season … Phillies: Nola 9.34 ERA with 1.96 WHIP away this season … With these two arms going in opposite directions, we recommend a 1* play on St. Louis. Thank you and good luck as always.

MLB 75 DIME GAME

CUBS -165

The Cubs are 7-1 this year. Today they play one of the worst teams in the MLB. Smith has pitched well this year, but he is going against the veteran Lester. Take the Cubs at home.

T.M. Selection: Dallas Stars (FREE PLAY)

It’s a big game obviously. This has been a very back and forth series. I’ve already hit a few big underdogs so far in this playoffs and while not a large dog here, I still think that Dallas offers great value to bounce back from its Game 6 loss and to steal Game 7 on the road. St. Louis looked inept offensively up until game 6, so I’m going to caution in reading too much into that effort. Dallas has been the better offensive club up to this point and it’s goaltending and defensive numbers are basically identical. Note as well that Dallas is 12-7 (+5.4 units) this year after allowing four or more goals in its previous contest and 13-9 (+3.6 units) after a loss by two goals or more in its previous game, while St. Louis is a disappointing 14-15 (-3 units) this year after a win by two goals or more. Consider Dallas in Game 7.

My 1* Free Play is on the Dallas Stars (Game 7, Rnd 2).

Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals. Is there anything better?

St. Louis took Game 6 by a score of 4-1, but I look for the Stars to bounce back here and find a way to get the job done on the road in Game 7.

Dallas’ goaltender Ben Bishop is now 7-5 with a 2.32 GAA in the playoffs. During the regular season he was 10-8 with a 2.09 GAA on the road and for his career he’s now 6-7 with a 2.12 GAA vs. the Blues.

St. Louis’ net minder Jordan Binngington is 7-5 with a 2.59 GAA in the playoffs. He was 14-2 with a 2.02 GAA at home during the regular season.

Bishop has the experience, but Binnington has the home ice advantage. For arguments sakes, lets call the goalies a “wash.” Would it be that difficult to imagine either one of these world class goaltenders taking over this game?

Despite scoring just one goal in Game 6 though, Dallas has been the better offensive club in this series. Coaching in the playoffs is about making adjustments and I believe the Stars’ superior offense gets back on track here. Consider Dallas in Game 7.

Good luck…Larry

Your Tuesday comp play goes on the Under in Philadelphia and Toronto.

Hard to build a case for the Over when you consider that in their 9 playoff games contested, the Raptors have been able to keep their opponents under 100 points in each of their last 3 games, and in 7 of their 9 overall games this postseason.

The Under has banked in each of the previous 4 games contested in this series against the 76ers, while the Under for the Raptors is 8-1 overall in the playoffs.

Philadelphia has also played 9 games in the playoffs, and obviously all 4 in this semifinals series have landed Under, as have each of their last 6, and 7 of their 9 overall.

Series numbers between the teams now show 5 straight, 6 of the last 7 and 7 of the past 10 overall having landed Under the total.

Can't really buck those numbers until I see someone other than Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler score consistently from game to game.

Philadelphia-Toronto Under in Game 5.

3* PHILADELPHIA-TORONTO UNDER

Tuesday night comp play on the diamond is the Reds and the Atheltics to post enough runs for this game to land Over the total.

Cincinnati just finished up a 4-game homestand against San Francisco that saw all 4 games land Over the total. Combined runs of 16 in yesterday's finale, 11 total runs on both Sunday and Saturday, and 23 runs to start the series last Friday. As you can see, not a lot of good pitching going on of late, but plenty of offense to go around!

Oakland is back home after playing 9 in a row on the road, and they too have been playing them high, as each of their 4 and 5 of their last 6 of that road trip all played Over the total.

In charge tonight of keeping the runs from scoring will be Tyler Mahle for Cincinnati, and Mike Fiers for Oakland. Somehow the Under is 5-0-1 in Mahle's 6 season starts, but the hurler has allowed 10 runs on 16 hits over his last 16 innings. He has not pitched past the 6th inning in any of his starts this season, so expect the suspect Cincy bullpen to see action in this one and add fuel to the fire so to speak.

As for Fiers, he sports a whopping 6.81 season ERA and that has translated to Overs in 4 of his last 5 season starts.

Both teams have just played too many runs-laden games of late for me to think that Mahle and Fiers are going to go out there and mow the batters down for very long in this series opener.

I will go ahead and play the Over in the Reds-Athletics meeting in Oakland tonight.

5* CINCINNATI-OAKLAND OVER
