I think this is a great price to back Arizona at home. The line here has a lot to do with how poorly Shelby Miller looked in his first start back. He might struggle again, but he could also pitch much better. The other key here is the Giants aren't throwing anyone of significance. SF will send out Dereck Rodriguez, who has a 3.95 ERA and 1.280 WHIP in 5 starts. Of even more importance is how bad he's been on the road. Rodriguez has a 6.75 ERA and 1.713 WHIP in his 2 road starts. You also have to factor in how well Arizona has been playing. The D-Backs went in Friday's contest having won 3 straight and 7 of their last 8 overall. This is just too good a price to pass up on. Give me the Diamondbacks -116!

The Chicago Cubs scored four home runs as they claimed the series opener 10-6 Friday afternoon. They've now put double digits on the scoreboard in consecutive game, and I think they'll have plenty of success here against Twins Adalberto Mejia. The left-hander went 4-7 with a 4.50 ERA in 21 starts last year, but has spent the entire season in the minor leagues. He could certainly have asked for an easier opponent in his season debut.
The Cubs turn to Tyler Chatwood (3-5, 3.95 ERA) who will make his first start after being activated off the paternity list earlier this week. He held the Dodgers to a run and two hits in five innings on June 19 his last time out, and I think Chatwood will be effective again today.
Cubs are 7-1 in their last 8 games vs. a left-handed starter and 7-2 in their last 9 home games. Twins are 6-20 in their last 26 interleague road games vs. a team with a winning record.

I like the value here with the Reds as a short home favorite against the Brewers on Saturday. Even after dropping the first two games of the series, Cincinnati is still sitting at 9-3 over their last 12 games and I like their chances of getting back in the win column with today's pitching matchup.
The Reds will send out Tyler Mahle, who has a 2.60 ERA over his last 3 starts. Even if Mahle has a bit of a slip up here, I like Cincinnati to put up a big number here against Milwaukee starter Jhoulys Chacin. In his last start, Chacin was torched for 8 runs on 9 hits and 5 walks in just 4 1/3 innings. Great American Ball Park is not the place you want to take the mound off a start like that, especially for Chacin, who has given up 9 runs on 10 hits and 6 walks over his last 2 starts at this ball park. My free winner for tonight is on the Oakland Athletics against the Cleveland Indians, as we're getting a fantastic price with a team streaking into the weekend.
While we are all aware the Indians are sitting atop the American League Central, we should also acknowledge it is the worst division in baseball. The Central has one team with a record better than .500 - Cleveland. But in the A.L. West, only one team has a record worse than .500, and that's the Texas Rangers.
Oakland, which has won five in a row, is now 21-20 at home and comes into this one with an extended win streak of 9-2 after last night's win over the Tribe. The Athletics are a dominating 15-4 against teams out of the Central, while the Indians are mired in an 8-13 slide against the feisty and competitive teams from the West.
And with an offense that ranks fifth this month with 137 runs scored, I think we're going to see the home team revved up tonight at the plate.
Take the small home underdog, and don't bother listing pitchers.

Improved to 23-9 with free picks, and tonight I look to continue the run with the Seattle Mariners over the Kansas City Royals, and I'm playing the M's on the Run Line.
While the Mariners continue to surge, having won five straight, the Royals are struggling terribly in last place of the worst division in baseball, the American League Central.
Kansas City has lost eight of 11 and is just 14-27 on the road. The Royals continued their road trip after starting the week in Milwaukee.

Seattle is 52-31 this year, and a stellar 26-14 at home. Even further, however, and even more impressive, is the Mariners going a surprising 30-14 without eight-time All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano, who was suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball in mid-May for using performance-enhancing drugs.
The Mariners are in the thick of the playoff race already, and could very well catch the defending World Series champion Houston Astros for the A.L. West title.

My free winner for Saturday night is on the San Francisco Giants, on the road in Arizona, where they'll pull off another win over the Diamondbacks.
This one is all about the pitchers, as I think Dereck Rodriguez will outduel Shelby Miller.
The Giants have looked spectacular in winning four of Rodriguez’s five starts this month. The rookie right-hander is in after perhaps the most dominant outing of his professional career, a seven-inning, six-strikeout showing in which Rodriguez allowed a leadoff home run then very calmly settled in. After San Francisco won a 2-1 decision last night, I think Rodriguez will pick up and carry the torch.
Meanwhile, for the Snakes, Miller will be making his second start of the season. The right-hander returned from Tommy John surgery on Monday in Miami, where he took the loss after lasting only 3 2/3 innings and giving up five runs on six hits.
Play Rodriguez over Miller in this one, as the Giants roll to the win.
