1* Free Pick on Phillies

I like the value here with the Phillies as a short road underdog against the Pirates in Saturday's MLB action. Philadelphia laid it on Pittsburgh Friday in a 17-5 blowout win and have now won 4 straight and 6 of their last 7. I look for the Phillies to stay hot and cash in an easy win here against a struggling Pirates team that has lost 3 straight and are just 14-29 in their last 43 overall.

Philadelphia also looks to have a strong edge on the mound, as they send out Jake Arrieta, who is 12-6 with a 2.81 ERA and 0.937 WHIP in 22 career starts against Pittsburgh. The Pirates will counter with Jameson Taillon, who has a 4.59 ERA and 1.595 WHIP in his last 3 starts and an ugly 6.39 ERA and 1.579 WHIP in 3 career starts against the Phillies. Take Philadelphia!

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #901 Saturday Free Pick OVER the total in Chicago Cubs vs Cincinnati Reds @ 2:20 ET - With the wind blowing in from right field at Wrigley Field this afternoon this total has opened up at a 8.5 in most shops. Of course the weather does impact hitting in this ball park but they don't call it the "friendly confines" for nothing. The fact is that it is a hitter-friendly venue and even when the wind is lightly blowing in from right field that doesn't change the fact that it has a great backdrop for the hitters in terms of seeing the ball well. Both of these lineups came into this series swinging the bats quite well. Of course that is a key reason the Reds have recorded only 3 unders in the past few weeks as they are on a 9-3-2 run to the over their last 14 games! Yesterday's game was one of those 3 unders but it never should have been. Just a ton of wasted opportunities and there were hardly any 1-2-3 innings in that game. I expect more of the same today but this time the teams cash in on those opportunities. The Cubs, entering this series, had averaged scoring 8.7 runs per game their last 8 games. They scored at least 5 runs in all 8 of those games and the Reds have scored at least 4 runs in 16 of their last 18 games. You can see easily see why it is certainly more than reasonable to expect each team to get to 4 or 5 runs in this game! Note that Chicago's Tyler Chatwood has had major issues with command of his pitches this season and the Reds Matt Harvey has a lower ERA of late but he has struggled badly on the road all season long. Harvey has a 5.49 ERA away from home this season and Chatwood has a 5.40 ERA at Wrigley Field this season. Overall, Chatwood has nearly as many walks as strikeouts on the year. The over in Cubs games is 9-4 their last 13 and only 5 of their 15 Saturday games this season have resulted in an under. Free Pick OVER the total in Chicago Cubs

MLB | MIA vs WAS
Play on: UNDER 7 +110

Max Scherzer is 10-5 with a 2.16 ERA in 18 starts for the Nats with 10 of those going under the total. The righty has a 3.39 ERA and a WHIP of 1.066 in 15 career starts against the Marlins. He allowed three runs and 10 hits over his last 14 innings at home against this lineup. Miami doesn't scare many teams with a group that is towards the bottom in runs scored. Wei-Yin Chen has a good history against this Nats team whom he held to one run and three hits in just over seven innings last year. He's given up just one earned run over his last two starts so the lefty is getting better. Washington is hitting .217 against left-handed starters going under in 15 of their 26 games against them. Miami's bullpen stinks so we'll see if they can stay away for the most part in this one. I think this one goes under the total.

Edges - Reds: Harvey 7-4 as a dog this season; and 14 Ks with 3 BBs last three starts … Cubs: Chatwood 6.23 ERA with 2.11 WHIP last 7 starts, and 1-5 team starts versus NL Central this season; and 1-4 career team starts versus the Reds. MLB | Rays vs Mets
Play on: Rays -126 at pinnacle

Jack’s Free Pick Saturday: Tampa Bay Rays -126

The New York Mets have been a train wreck over the last few months. They are 18-40 in their last 58 games overall, including 8-22 in their last 30 home games. We’ll gladly fade them this afternoon and back the Rays.

Blake Snell is one of the most underrated starters in baseball. He has gone 11-4 with a 2.24 ERA and 1.012 WHIP in 18 starts this season, including 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA and 0.938 WHIP in his last three starts. He has shut down the Yankees and Astros both this season, which says all you need to know about how good he is.

Steven Matz has been decent at 4-6 with a 3.46 ERA in 16 starts, but he’s no match for Snell in this one. Matz has been at his worst at home, going 1-3 with a 4.57 ERA in eight starts at Citi Field.

The Rays are 5-0 in their last five during Game 2 of a series. Tampa Bay is 5-0 in Snell’s last five starts during Game 2 of a series. The Rays are 5-1 in their last six games vs. a left-handed starter. The Mets are 6-20 in their last 26 home games vs. a left-handed starter. Bet the Rays Saturday.

MLB | Phillies vs Pirates
Play on: Phillies +120 at pinnacle

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Philadelphia Phillies +120

The Phillies are feeling good right now. They have won five straight to improve to 48-37 on the season and right in the thick of the NL East race. They just scored 17 runs on the Pirates yesterday. They should find some success against Jameson Taillon, who is 1-1 with a 6.30 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in three previous starts against the Phillies. Jake Arrieta is 12-6 with a 2.81 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 22 previous starts against the Pirates. I like getting him as an underdog here this afternoon. The Pirates are 0-6 in their last six home games vs. a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh is 0-6 in its last six home games overall. Give me the Phillies.

MLB | Cardinals vs Giants
Play on: Cardinals -115 at BMaker

10* FREE MLB PICK (Cardinals -115)

I'll take my chances here with St Louis on the road against the Giants. This one comes down to the starting pitching matchup for me. The Cardinals will send out Carlos Martinez, who is coming off back-to-back wins in Quality Starts against the Indians and Diamondbacks. In both starts Martinez allowed just 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings with a combined 15 strikeouts. While St Louis will send out a surging Martinez, San Francisco turns to Jeff Samardzija, who is making his first start in over a month. Samardzija wasn't great when he was healthy earlier in the year, as he went 1-4 with a 6.56 ERA and 1.682 WHIP in 8 starts. Chances are he struggles in his first start back and the Cardinals win this one going away. Give me St Louis -115!

1* Free Sharp Play on White Sox vs Astros under 8 +100

My money is on the UNDER 8 in Saturday's MLB matchup between the White Sox and Astros. Chicago will give turn to James Shields, who has been dealing of late with a 1.47 ERA and 1.145 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Shields also owns a strong 3.19 ERA in 7 career starts against Houston. The Astros will turn to Charlie Morton, who is quietly having a Cy Young type of season. Morton is 10-2 with a 2.55 ERA in 17 outings. He's 7-1 with a 2.18 ERA in 10 home starts and has a sensational 0.92 ERA and 1.017 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Both teams are going to struggle to put runs on the board. Bet the UNDER 8!

Play on: UNDER 8½ +105

#MLB FREE PICK FROM MIKE LUNDIN

The Baltimore Orioles have lost 11 of their last 12 games and they average just 3.59 runs per game on the season. Right-hander Kevin Gausman (4-6, 4.05 ERA) has posted a 2.76 ERA in his last five outings and held the Angels to two runs through eight innings his last time out. Minnesota righty Kyle Gibson (2-6, 3.58 ERA) has surrendered more than three earned runs only once in his last seven outings and threw six no-hit innings with six strikeouts on March 31 in Baltimore.

Under is 9-2 in Orioles last 11 vs. a team with a losing record. Under is 4-0 in Twins last 4 overall. Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

Free pick on UNDER.

Alex Ovechkin hasn't let the Stanley Cup out of his sight since June 7. I was there the night he hoisted it in Las Vegas for the first time in his career, and I've seen every damn highlight of him holding, lifting, kissing, cuddling and drinking from it. Even on standing on his hands.

Now he has it in his home country of Russia, where the World Cup is down to the quarterfinals. Today, the host nation takes the field and is catching a value dog price against Croatia.

I like Russia to win this game.

Here's the thing, about Croatia. It cruised through the group stages by winning all three of matches, including an impressive 3-0 victory against Argentina. And I'm not so sure this team has been challenged well enough. It could very well meet its fate against an eager and hungry Russian team that is battle tested.

Let's face it, nobody expected much from Stanislav Cherchesov team when this competition kicked off three weeks ago. But resiliency has gotten this team this far, including a successful shootout against Spain.

Croatia is a creative team, that makes things happen, but Russia's defense has been impressive, and could clog things in front of the goal to keep Croatia's passing lines congested.

Nobody is picking Russia today, but something tells me this is another great spot for the host in Sochi.

1* RUSSIA

Your Saturday freebie is the Cardinals over the Giants.

After winning 11-2 to open the long 4-game set on Thursday, the Cards found themselves on the wrong side of last night's 3-2 final.

Look for St. Louis to get back in the win column today against a San Francisco team that had lost 4 in a row prior to last night's victory.

Jeff Samardzija will make his first start since May 29th, and he is just 1-4 on the season with an ERA of 6.56. He will work against the resurgent Carlos Martinez who has strung together back-to-back quality starts, and is 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA for his career against San Francisco.

I like the Redbirds to take flight this Saturday afternoon at AT&T Park.

2* ST. LOUIS

Jack Brayman

Last night's 100 Dime Winner is today's freebie, and I don't want you listing the starting pitchers, as this is straight action.

The Twins are doing a great job in turning back a dreadful period right now, asa they've dropped eight of 11. They remain in second place, but let's not forget the American League Central is the worst division in baseball. It is the only division with one team above .500. Minnesota, and maybe Detroit, have the potential to be better. The Twins are showing that a bit of late.

The Twins are now 22-20 at home, after last night's 6-2 win and have beaten Baltimore by a combined 11-4 the last two nights. That momentum continues against Baltimore, the worst team in the American League with a 24-63 mark. The Orioles are mired in a 2-11 slide, and have the worst road mark in baseball at 12-34.

Baltimore's offense is abysmal, including the worst road batting average of .222. The O's have scored just 157 runs on the highway, fourth-least in the league.

The Orioles are doomed again, having lost seven straight and nine of 11.

After this four-game set, the Twins host the Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays. Of the 11 games, I wouldn't be surprised to see Minnesota win at least eight. It's off to a good start thus far.

It's must-win time for the Twins, before the All-Star Break. Lay the cheap number today.

2* TWINS

My free winner for tonight is on the Cleveland Indians over the Oakland Athletics, and we're playing this one on the Run Line, as I anticipate a blowout for the Tribe.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager. But with this game I am not concerned with who is pitching for either team tonight and want you playing this game on the Run Line regardless. That said, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be sure you have action even if one of the pitchers scheduled to start is scratched, by betting the game over again in the event that takes place.

Cleveland has won five straight, and is getting things done with the second-best home batting average (.284) in baseball. The Indians also rank second in the league with 251 runs scored at home.

That will spell trouble for an Oakland staff that has a 4.63 road ERA, and a whopping 7.20 ERA just six days into July - second-worst in the league. I will say that July number is jaded by a 15-run outburst that was followed by two games the A's pitchers allowed two runs in each. But the 15 runs? They were tallied by these same Indians on July 1. The same Indians who scored 10 last night.

The Indians are 28-13 at home and will thrive in this series against a weak pitching staff. Take the Tribe on the Run Line.

5* INDIANS RUN LINE

My comp play for Saturday is the Dodgers and Angels to play a high-scoring game.

Dodgers starter Ross Stripling does own a season ERA of 2.27, but of late he has been sowing a little wear-and-tear, as his ERA is over 4 for his last 3 starts, with 2 of the 3 playing Over the total.

His counterpart Deck McGuire has worked 16-plus innings this year and his ERA is 7.56.

The Dodgers had a stretch of 4 straight Overs snapped in last night's 3-2 series opener. Look for the runs to add back up in this Dodgers-Angels meeting for Saturday night with a pair of suspect starters throwing the baseball.

LA-LA Over.

3* L.A. DODGERS-L.A.ANGELS OVER
