Indians vs. Yankees
Indians+130

There are four dominant teams in the American League and this game features two of them. Anytime one of them has a starting pitching edge and is an underdog that side usually needs to be backed. That's my thinking on taking the Indians in a pitching matchup of Mike Clevinger versus Domingo German. I understand it's tough to step in against New York, winners of 14 of its last 15. But Clevinger is a proven commodity. The same can't be said for German, who is 0-1 with a 3.77 ERA in relief. He's making his first big league start because Jordan Montgomery went on the DL with a left elbow strain. Clevinger is overlooked on a great Cleveland pitching staff. He's put up awesome numbers during his last 14 appearances dating back to Aug. 21 going 8-1 with a 1.88 ERA. The 27-year-old is in his prime and has fared well on the road going 10-5 with a 3.28 ERA in 23 career road outings. Clevinger hasn't allowed an earned run in two road starts this season spanning 14 1/3 innings. The Indians have left nine of 10 runners stranded in losing the first two games of this series. Look for the Indians to get some key hits this time around in what very well could turn into a bullpen game for the Yankees with a vast array of middle relievers seeing action.

My 1* Free Play is on the Cincinnati Reds (4:10 EST).

The visitors hand the ball to Dan Straily (0-0, 9.00) who was rocked for four runs off six hits and four walks over six frames in a fortunate no-decision in his season debut against the Phillies on Monday.

The home side counters with Brandon Finnegan (0-2. 7.27) who will look to get off the schneid here and punch one into the win column finally. Finnegan most recently allowed three runs off five hits and three walks with two K’s over five innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.

I’m banking on Straily still needing some time to shake off his rust, while I look for Finnegan to build off his best effort so far this year and to take advantage of his favorable matchup.

Consider the Reds on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck…Larry

Toronto (Estrada) @ Tampa Bay (Archer) 1:10 PM ET

Game# 917-918

Play On: Tampa Bay -136

Toronto’s Marco Estrada has displayed horrible form over his last 4 starts. During that time, Estrada has posted a massive 11.57 ERA. Since 2016, the Blue Jays right-hander is an abysmal 0-7 during his team starts against Tampa Bay while compiling a horrible 9.03 ERA while doing so.

Chris Archer is off to an awful start in 2018. However, since 2016, Archer has made 9 starts against Toronto and collected a stellar 2.83 ERA in those appearances. Heading into Saturday’s action, the Rays bullpen has a very good 1.05 WHIP as a staff throughout Toronto’s previous 7 games. Bet on Tampa Bay on the money line.

ART ARONSON

This is a 1* Free Play on the Golden State Warriors.

The Pelicans sure looked good in their 117-100 Game 3 victory. New Orleans though looked horrible in its first two games in Golden State. The defending champs are pretty much the best around in making quick adjustments from one game to the next and it’s almost impossible for us to think that Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry will put together back-to-back “dud” efforts. A 4-0 sweep was out of the question in this series anyways, but a return to “the norm” is imminent in Game 4 in our opinion. Note as well that Golden State is 5-2 ATS in its last seven off an upset loss as a favorite, while New Orleans is still just 22-27 ATS in its last 49 off an upset win as an underdog. Consider the WARRIORS in Game 4.

A's-157

DMack's Free Play for Sunday, May 6, 2018, is on the Oakland A's (Triggs Listed)

That Alex Cobb is starting in the majors gives you an idea of the current horrible state of the Baltimore Orioles. Cobb is 0-3 with a 9.86 ERA allowing 37 hits and 4 walks in 17 1/3 innings of work. Batting practice pitchers get more people out. The A's Andrew Triggs is well regarded despite dicey 2-1 (5.20) numbers. Oakland shut out the Orioles 2-0 last night behind Cahill and this just might be the lineup Triggs needs to see to get some swagger going. Lay it.

Well, New Orleans was able to show a little defense on Friday night, as they held Golden State to a "paltry" 100-points, as we had our first of three games in this series land Under the total.

The question for Sunday is can the Pelicans once again keep this Warriors team in check?

I don't think they can. I think we revert back to another higher-scoring game, and we see the Over cash the ticket.

Remember this, prior to Friday's Under the teams had played 4 in a row Over the total, and 7 of their previous 9 were also checked-off in the Over column.

While the Warriors are just 4-3-1 Over the total in their 8 postseason games thus far, there can be no denying their scoring pop, and I am saying the Pels don't hold them below 110 points in this showdown.

The Pelicans Under on Friday was their first in their last 5 playoff games.

Let's look for the offense to get cranking again in Game 4.

Dubs-Pels to land Over.

3* GOLDEN STATE-NEW ORLEANS OVER

SEAN MURPHY
MLB | May 06, 2018
Cubs vs. Cardinals
UNDER 8½ -115

Sunday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Chicago and St. Louis at 8:05 pm et on Sunday.

We saw a high-scoring affair between these two teams yesterday as the Cardinals walked off with an 8-6 victory. I expect to see a lower-scoring contest on Sunday night with a terrific pitching matchup on deck.

Jon Lester will take the ball for the Cubs. He is off to a fine start this season, having posted a 2.73 ERA and 1.24 WHIP through six starts, spanning 33 innings of work. The 'under' has cashed in each of his last two trips to the hill. He has given up only three earned runs in his last three outings against the Cardinals, pitching 20 innings over that stretch.

Michael Wacha has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts for the Cardinals in the early going this season. He checks in 3-0 with a 2.38 ERA. It's also worth noting that he is 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA in four nighttime starts, with the Cardinals winning all four of those contests. Wacha didn't fare well against the Cubs last season, but that was a down year for the right-hander by all accounts.

The 'under' had cashed in each of the Cardinals last four games prior to yesterday's win over the Cubs.

MLB Free Pick: Royals -144

The Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers in the first two games of this series before dropping Saturday's game 3-2. The Royals get set to finish up a 4 game series on Sunday. Kansas City is 10-23 on the season and 4th in the AL Central. The Royals 5-5 over their last ten games and are 5-13 at home. Jakob Junis will make his 7th start of the season for the Royals. Junis is 3-2 with 38.1 innings pitched. Junis has 30 strikeouts and carries a 3.29 ERA. The Royals are 6-1 in Junis' last 7 starts vs. a team with a losing record. The Royals are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. American League Central while the Tigers are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Kansas City.

BRANDON LEE
MLB | May 06, 2018
Twins vs. White Sox
10* FREE MLB PICK (Twins -143)

I'll take my chances here with the Twins staying hot and closing leaving Chicago with a win on Sunday. Minnesota got off to a strong 8-5 start, but then lost 8 straight and were a mere 1-11 over a 12-game stretch. They are starting to dig themselves out of that hole. The Twins have won 2 straight and 3 of 4, behind an offense that is starting to click. Minnesota has scored at least 4 runs in 6 straight (only scored 4 or more in 4 of their previous 12). That offense will be up against the White Sox's James Shields, who has an ugly 5.19 ERA and 1.385 WHIP in 6 starts. Minnesota counters with Kyle Gibson, who has been solid overall, but really thrived on the road, where he's got a 1.96 ERA and 0.818 WHIP in 3 starts. Give me the Twins -143!

There is a ton of excitement in Tampa Bay right now, as the NHL's Lightning could be headed to the Eastern Conference Final with a win over the Boston Bruins today. That enthusiasm in Tampa will carry over to Tropicana Field, where the Rays finish up with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Toronto has lost three in a row, and today it is sending starter Marco Estrada to the hill. Now, I'm not listing pitchers because I think the Rays win no matter who is on the bump for either team, but hitting against Estrada will be easy.

The right-hander is 1-8 with a 4.96 ERA in 14 career appearances against the Rays, including a dismal campaign last year, when Estrada went 0-4 with a 10.61 ERA in four starts.

Again, I couldn't care less about him or Chris Archer, but it's to our advantage with Estrada on the hill.

Take Tampa Bay, as it will complete the sweep over the struggling Jays.

Tigers vs. Royals
Royals-144

The Kansas City Royals are 0-8-2 in series this season but look good to earn their first series win of the season here. They enter Sunday's matchup with the Detroit Tigers tied at 1-1 but will have a big edge on the mound with Jakob Junis (3-2, 3.29 ERA) pitching opposite Matthew Boyd (1-2, 2.48 ERA).

Boyd is 2-5 with a 7.05 ERA in 10 career meetings with KC, and in five career Kauffman Stadium starts, Boyd is 1-2 with a 10.53 ERA. Junis is 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA in five games (four starts) against the Tigers and 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in two starts against Detroit on the season.

Tigers are 3-12 in Boyds last 15 starts. Royals are 5-2 in Junis' last seven starts.
