I'll take my chances here with Philadelphia at home against the Pirates. I think we are seeing the Pittsburgh get a little to much respect here on the road due to the fact they come in off a 3-game sweep of the Reds. That sweep was at home. Pirates are just 9-25 in their last 34 road games and have gone 6-23 in their last 29 on the road vs a team with a winning home record. Lefty Jason Vargas has pitched well since coming over from NY and is facing a Pittsburgh team here that has gone a miserable 16-40 in their last 56 on the road vs a left-handed starter. Also, regardless of where home has been, Vargas has gone 39-19 as a home favorite of -150 or less. Give me the Phillies!

The Philadelphia Phillies dropped two of three at the Miami Marlins over the weekend, very disappointing results considering that they're in a tight race for the wild cards in the National League and need all wins they can get. The Phillies now return home where they're 38-28 on the season, and I expect them to put on a show for the crowd against in-state rival Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park Monday night.
Philly surely must like its chances of scoring plenty of runs off Pittsburgh righty Joe Musgrove (8-12, 4.74 ERA) who has been lit up for 17 runs over his last four starts (7.71 ERA). Left-hander Jason Vargas (6-6, 3.99 ERA) will toe the rubber for the home team. He has made four starts since coming over from the Mets allowing two runs in three of them.
The Phillies are 12-5 in their last 17 games following a loss. The Pirates are 6-20 in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a winning record and 2-8 in the last 10 meetings with Philadelphia.

After a rough series against the Pirates, the Reds (60-69) have a great chance to bounce back against the Marlins (47-82), who hold a 27-40 record at home.
While Cincinnati isn’t the most prolific offensive team – they rank 23rd– their 580 runs scored puts them far ahead of Miami and their 481 runs scored, which is only good enough for 29thout of 30 teams.
The advantage for the Reds should extend to the mound, where right-hander Sonny Gray (9-6, 2.92 ERA) will start. In his last 10 starts, Gray is 6-1 with a 1.58 ERA. In his last outing, Gray struck out 10 batters over six innings in a 3-2 victory over the Padres.
In 12 at-bats against Gray, Marlins left fielder Curtis Granderson has just one hit.
Right-hander Pablo Lopez (5-5, 4.23 ERA) starts for Miami. Dealing with a right shoulder strain, this will be Lopez’ first start since going on the injured list after a June 15 outing against the Pirates.
When Gray is starting, the Reds are 14-3 in their last 17. Meanwhile, the Marlins are a dismal 4-10 in their last 14 in Miami against teams with a losing record.

I really like Cincinnati to cash a win at Marlins Park on Monday. Reds have been hanging in there in the 2nd half and I like them to keep playing hard the rest of the way. We should get a big effort here after getting swept in a 3-game series at Pittsburgh over the weekend.
On top of that, we got one of the best starters going right now against a guy that hasn't started a game because of injury in more than a month.
Sonny Gray goes for Cincinnati and has gone 6-1 with a 1.58 ERA in his last 10 starts. Pablo Lopez will start for Miami and he's been out since Jun. 15 with a right shoulder problem.
Reds are 14-3 in Gray's last 17 starts and the Marlins are 4-13 in their last 17 vs a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Take Cincinnati!
