JR O'Donnell

3* Tigers -1½

The Tigers and JJ. Verlander are the play tonight -1.5 runs as a 9-1 inter league record and a struggling Tigers team that needs to win will tune up the Poor Pirates Friday. Jr O sweeps the NBA ticket with the Celtics last night and we have a smooth 4-2 66% 3* top play run. The Tigers ace has limited batters to .186 at home this season. The Pirates are 9-22 on the road this season & R Ohlendorf is brutal on the road, the Pirates are 1-10 in his last 11.

Tony George

St. Louis -140

Close to my limit at -150, I am pulling the trigger here. A TOTAL Mismatch here with Jamie Garcia on the mound for the Cards, a solid lefty with a 1.47 ERA on the year against the D backs who are struggling on offense and have hit a measly .180 as a team their last 10 games against southpaws. Better team, starter, hitting, bullpen all favor the Cards here, who are not a good road team and this is a VERY Winnable Game. Low scoring, but the Cards pull it out against a bullpen with a 6.50 ERA their last 3 games. Play to 1.5 Units on St. Louis.

THE PREZ

South Africa @ Mexico
PICK: Over 2

There are multiple options on your end when investing in this World Cup 2010 Soccer match. Pinny, 5Dimes and BetUS offers some of the best soccer lines and Bookmaker covers multiple world leagues, too.

El Tri had an interesting path to the World Cup, salvaging qualification after the re-appointment of Javier Aguirre, who had coached the team to the 2002 World Cup. Until that point, it was not certain that the side would reach the finals after a string of poor performances under Sven-Goran Eriksson had left it outside the three automatic qualification places in the CONCACAF region.

While Mexico is the second-favorite behind France to win Group A, there is a lot to be wary of when it comes to picking this squad for success. In recent warm-ups against weaker African competition on North American soil, the team has struggled to find goals, but according to reports Aguirre wasn't only not concerned with their lack of offense, he said it was more of a planned effort in his preparation.

The hosts of the first World Cup ever to be staged in Africa would have been an intriguing bet 10 years ago. Sadly the Bafana Bafana have fallen on hard times since then as the development of good young players to replace those that were successful upon the teams re-introduction to international soccer after the end of apartheid has not materialized.

The key to the team will be Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar. The creative midfielder scored four goals and added three assists in the most recent Premier League campaign, and he will be counted on to provide a creative spark for striker Katlego Mphela. The host is carrying low expectations from those in the know and defensively the team has too many holes to compete with any of Group A.

Pinny is offering OVER 2 goals at -120, 5Dimes has OVER 2 goals at -115, and Bookmaker has o2-130.

7* Play on OVER 2 goals

Matchup: Atlanta at Minnesota
Time: 8:10 PM EDT (Fri)
Listed pitchers must go: (R) HUDSON, T vs. (L) LIRIANO, F

Play: Minnesota (ML -125) Solid Gold Play

The Twins are off surprising back to back home losses to the lowly Royals, but I like their chances of rebounding tonight as the Braves come calling. Tim Hudson is always tough, but I don't believe he's been quite as sharp of late and the Twins might get him for a few tonight. Atlanta is also coming into this series a little banged up, plus they've been on the road for a very lengthy stretch and fatigue could play here. Liriano has been an interleague monster and I expect him to contain the Braves here. Excellent scheduling spot with a reasonable price adds up to a solid call on the Twins.

Matchup: Texas at Milwaukee
Time: 8:10 PM EDT (Fri)
Listed pitchers must go: (R) HARDEN, R vs. (L) NARVESON, C

Play: Texas (ML -115)

It's Harden vs. Narveson tonight as the Rangers open their interleague set with the Brewers. Texas comes in a little warm after demolishing the hapless Mariners, while the Brewers are off an exciting extra inning win over the Cubs. There's not much of a positive reliability factor with either of these pitchers, particularly with both hurlers having trouble keeping their pitches anywhere near the strike zone. Narveson has been really bad, though, and he's also sporting some ugly home numbers. Milwaukee is hardly a powerhouse at Miller Park this season, and I believe the Rangers are simply the better team. The price is not really much of a factor here, so I'll risk the Rangers as small road chalk tonight.
