B Zito and the San Fran Giants are the medicine that the 33-24 "Home Town Red Birds need tonight as they are really knocking the cover off the ball right now!! Leaders in tons of Offensive categories the Reds are a smooth 19-11 at home and a smooth 7-0 the last 7 starts by J. Cueto. The Giants will not get to J Cueto who owns a nice 5-1, 4.09 ERA mark this young season. Zito has been struggling as of late as he 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in his last 4 ball games.

Cincinnati off a winning series this weekend against the Nats, as are the Giants who were on the road at Pitt, and struggled to a 2-1 series win. They take to the road again here against a hot Reds team with an offense hitting over .300 against right and left handers on offense. Zito has been solid this year for the Giants, but he will get hit tonight. Johnny Cueto toes the rubber for the Reds, and has a 5-1 record on the year and a 3.19 ERA at home. I like the offense of the Reds who have won 9 out of 11 at home, while the Giants have struggled losing 6 out of their last 8 on the road. Play 1 Unit on Cincinnati.

Cueto's four-game winning streak hit a speed bump on Tuesday in St. Louis, although he didn't take a loss despite allowing eight runs and 10 hits in just five innings. With the no-decision, Cueto still hasn't lost since April 24. In the starts between that loss and the eight-run outing in St. Louis, Cueto gave up a total of eight runs in six starts. Now, he'll try to bounce back from his roughest outing of the season against a team he's never faced. Cueto will pitch against the Giants for the first time in 72 career starts, and the only Giants batter who has faced him is former Pirate Freddy Sanchez.

Hammel held the Giants to one run, an Andres Torres home run, in 6 2/3 innings on Tuesday night in a game the Rockies eventually won, 2-1, in 11 innings. It was a breakthrough for Hammel, who stayed composed in a tight pitching contest with the Giants' Barry Zito. Despite his success, Hammel didn't have complete fastball command. If he can gain a handle on all his pitches and show consistency, a hot streak could be on the horizon.

The Red Sox aren't sure which version of Dice-K they're getting since he returned from the disabled list. When he's been his old self, Matsuzaka has been tough to hit, as he was three starts ago, when he allowed one hit and walked four in eight shutout innings against the Indians. When he's struggled, however, Matsuzaka has walked too many hitters, like the eight free passes he issued versus Kansas City on May 27. Most troubling has been the lack of strikeouts. Matsuzaka has fanned more than five only twice in seven games. Luckily, his most recent outing, Wednesday against Oakland, was a seven-strikeout effort in which he got a victory despite yielding 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings.

The Giants played extra innings yesterday and have to travel to Cincinnati to face a good-hitting and hot Reds team that plays excellent when home and leads the NL in runs scored. Johnny Cueto has pitched excellent this year (with the exception of his last outing), especially at home. Look for the Reds to get an important home win.
