Saturday ... 30-Dime Yankees -1' Runs (WITH Sabathia
over Buchholz) -

After last night’s dagger in the heart, I don’t know if the Red Sox will ever recover this season. Seriously, the offense is too inconsistent and in their last series with the Rays and Yankees, their confidence is slowly dwindling.But forget about the rest of the campaign, let’s talk about today. The bullpen is shot, the momentum is not on their side and they have struggling right-hander Clay Buchholz toeing the rubber today. I smell blowout beyond explanation today. There’s no way he outpitches C.C. Sabathia.Buchholz has literally looked terrified when stepping to the hill, as evidenced by his ERA that is above 6.00. When he is starting, the Sox are on a bevy of losing streaks, including 3-10 overall, 3-11 on the road, 3-7 against A.L. East foes and 0-5 versus teams with a winning record. Last Sunday in Baltimore he was staked to a 7-0 lead, and though the Red Sox ended up winning 18-10, Buchholz couldn’t get an out in the fifth inning and finished up allowing seven runs on nine hits in four innings. Now he is going to step on the rubber in Yankee Stadium, after the Bombers won big Thursday, in dramatic fashion last night and hours after Big Papi addressed the media?Buchholz does not have a quality outing in any of his last 14 big-league starts dating to last April, and is 1-1 with a 7.24 ERA in three road efforts this season. He also has a 7.45 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees Ready for more intangibles … the Yankees now own the best record in baseball. New York has won six in a row overall and are on additional streaks of 52-25 overall, 45-18 at home, 20-7 against A.L. East opponents and 19-4 against right-handed starters. On the other hand, Boston has lost four in a row - all on the road - dropping to 3-9 in its last 12 as a visitor. On top of that, the Red Sox have lost seven straight to teams with a winning record.I’ll side with Sabathia, who will be ready to shake a pair of sketchy starts on the road, where he allowed a combined 11 runs (10 earned) on 19 hits (three home runs) over 12-2/3 innings (7.11 ERA). But the Yanks are 5-1 in Sabathia’s last six starts when he comes off five days of rest, and there’s no doubt he knows like everyone else, this is the game he proves once and for all he was worth the big contract during the off-season. This is why they went out and got him.The big, burly southpaw is 4-2 with a 4.02 ERA in 10 home starts this year, and I’ll bank on him to win this Run Line play over Buchholz and the weary Red Sox, whose bullpen will be tanked.

400♦ Colorado Rockies (Action)
Go with the Rockies at home tonight. Glad to be home the Rockies took advantage of the Cubs pitching change to upend Chicago last night for their 15th straight win over the NL Central. Well thanks to being 42-21 over their last 63 games and winners of 10 of their last 14 games at home I look for the Rockies to continue their winning ways tonight. Paving the way for the Rockies will be Marquis who not only looks to become the first 13 game winner in the national league, but the righty will be doing so against his former team. Countering for the Cubs will be Dempster who I bet wishes he would be scratched due to going 4-3 with an 8.06 ERA in his last eight starts against Colorado, including an eye popping 0-2 with a 22.00 ERA in three starts at Coors Field. Simple, with the Rockies going with Marquis who is due for a win and playing at home I see nothing but a Colorado win tonight.
All Colorado!

100♦ Texas Rangers (Action)
In bonus action, I say go with the underdog Rangers as they continue to own the Angels this year. Blasting the Angels last night 11-6 it’s the Rangers who have now won 8 of the 10 series meeting this year, including the last three games which have been in Los Angeles. Now to make it four straight over their rivals the Rangers turn to Millwood who will be well rested for tonight’s game as they righty has lead his team to a pair of wins over Los Angeles in two starts this season. Countering for the Angels will be Weaver who carries a 5.75 ERA in three starts this season against the Rangers this season. So behind another offensive explosion go with the Rangers as they make it 9 of 11 over their AL west rivals today.

HIGHROLLERS MLB PICK for TODAY

15 UnitsLa Angels {J.Weaver} (-160) over Rangers {K.Millwood}
4:10 PM -- Angel Stadium of Anaheim
LOS ANGELES ANGELS (64-43) -160 over Texas Rangers (61-47) Pitching for Los Angeles: RH Jered Weaver (11-3, 3.79) Pitching for Texas: RH Kevin Millwood (9-7, 3.39) Angels Trend Profile: 6-4, Streak: Lost 1, Home Record: 32-21, Against RHP: 40-33. Rangers Trend Profile: Last 10: 5-5, Streak: Won 2, Road Record: 24-26, Against RHP 38-31. Starting Time: 4:10 TV: FOX Comments: It’s time for the Angels to get the Dallas monkey off their backs. Texas, the team Los Angeles has to beat for the American League West title, stands 8-2 in its last 10 games against the Angels and have averaged 6.9 runs while hitting a team .295 in those games. There is no better Los Angeles pitcher than Weaver to put the stopper on this run—and he is at his best right now. In Weaver’s last 12 home starts he is 7-1 with an E.R.A. of 2.79. The Rangers Millwood is having an excellent season but may not be at his best for this. He was scratched from his last three starts with a strained muscle.

15* on Brewers/Astros OVER 9 (-120)

Take the over in the Brewers/Astros game Saturday as both starters are getting hit all over the park lately. Brewers starter, Manny Parra, comes into Saturday's game with a 7.40 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 10 road starts this season. 8 of those 10 starts have gone over the total. Mike Hampton goes for the Astros, and he has been knocked around in his last 3 starts, earning a 8.04 ERA and 2.17 WHIP over that stretch, with two of his last 3 starts going over the total. While neither team boasts a top-tier offense, these two starters should provide plenty of hittable pitches.

A.L. Central Game of the Year
400♦ DETROIT TIGERS RUN LINE (WITH Verlander
over Pavano) - Let me start by saying I believe Carl Pavano will be a huge pickup for the Minnesota Twins. He’s a quality veteran and he knows about playing for a winning franchise, more importantly what it takes to win for a winning franchise. But this is the wrong time to throw him to the wolves, er, the Tigers, as the American League Central division leaders are on a nice little run right now, having won three straight by a combined tally of 21-13. In fact, over a 6-3 run, the Tigers have outscored their foes 44-26 in the six wins. This is the perfect spot for another blowout win …It’s Saturday night in Motown, Pavano will have been with the team for about 24 hours and he has to face Justin Verlander, who is 12-5 on the year with a 3.29 ERA and comes in after a very strange outing I suffered through personally last Monday. I gave you the Tigers with Verlander as a 300♦ Run Line Punisher against Baltimore, yet he gave up five first-inning runs; good news was, he shut them down for the next seven innings while Detroit’s offense came back to tie the game before winning on the contest with a walk-off homer.

That outing ended Verlander's streak of quality starts at five, but it also marked the team’s fifth victory in the right-hander’s past six starts. And since he was dominant in striking out a season-high 13 Twins in his last meeting with them, back in May, and the fact he ended up with no decision tells me he will be hungry for a big game tonight.Now I know darn well Pavano is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA versus these Tigers, but Detroit is hitting the ball too strong right now. And that won’t bode well for Minnesota’s newest right-hander, who brings a season-long 5.37 ERA into this one, and an even higher 6.75 ERA over his last three starts.The Twins bring in losing streaks of 1-4 as a road dog, 2-7 against righties and 1-5 overall into this one. On the flipside, the jungle stripes are on winning runs of 14-3 at home against right-handers, 23-9 as the home chalk, 10-1 when Verlander is laying more than two bucks and 22-4 when he toes the slab at home against losing teams.Big win here tonight, as the Tigers blast Minnesota for an easy win.
