FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
At 8:05pm our selection is on the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies 'under' the total. With the acquisition of lefthanded ace Cliff Lee from the Cleveland Indians, tonight's starter, righthander Joe Blanton has been able to move to the # 4 spot in the rotation, a place where he no doubt feels less pressure and is more comfortable pitching every five days. And Blanton has responded with quality starts in each outing since Lee was acquired. After the Phillies lost Blanton's last five starts in the month of June, they have now won six of his nine since the beginning of July. The Phillies must also have breathed a big sigh of relief on Friday night when Brad Lidge came in and pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save against this Atlanta team as Lidge had been struggling mightily recently with his ERA getting up over seven runs. Atlanta's young righthanded ace Jair Jurrjens has allowed two or fewer runs in 19 of his 27 starts this year and has gone win-less in 11 of those outings. He experienced this bad luck again on Tuesday, when he was damaged only by Adrian Gonzalez's solo homer during a seven-inning effort. Jurrjens continues to be a finalist for the "Rodney Dangerfield" award this season, getting very little respect from his own hitters. Jurrjens would be happy to reproduce his first outing of the season when he shut out the Phillies at Citizens Bank Ballpark by a 4-0 tally. Finally, Atlanta is 49-35 'under' the total at night this season, and 24 of Blanton's last 33 nighttime starts at home have gone 'under' as well. Sunday Night Total of the Month on the 'under.'

Bears at Broncos
BEARS - It’s the game many people have been waiting for. And while traded quarterback Jay Cutler will downplay his return to Denver, this is his chance to get back at the team that he felt wronged by.
Cutler will lead his new team to a cover tonight as it flirts with the outright victory as about a 2 1/2 point underdog.
So far this preseason the Broncos have not won a game SU, but are 1-1 ATS. However, the Broncos barely covered in their first preseason game, losing 17-16 as a 1 1/2 point underdog at San Francisco.
In their second game, however, they got beat up 27-13 as a 3-point underdog at the Seahawks. Including that non-cover, the Broncos have failed to cover in 3 of their last 4 preseason games and are just 1-4 SU in that stretch.
Now they have to deal with a Bears team that was impressive last week at home as a 3-point favorite, beating the Giants 17-3. In that game Cutler finished 8 of 13 for 121 yards, throwing a touchdown and no interceptions. Tonight, Cutler is expected to play the entire first half and possibly into the third quarter.
Cutler will be playing to make a point against his former team as he leads his team to a cover.
Bears-Broncos Total
OVER - The Total for tonight’s game is set at around 38 points and the Bears and Broncos will definitely go Over that number.
Coming into this game the Over has gone 4-1 in Chicago’s last five road preseason games, including its only roadie this August where the Bears and Bills combined for 47 points, going well over the 35 point Total.
Going back a little further, the Bears have seen the Over come in 7 of their last 10 games overall in the preseason.
On the other side, the Broncos have seen the Over come in 3 of their last 4 preseason games and have seen it go 12-7 their last 19 games in August.
These teams will score in bunches as they play Over the Total.

1000* - Kansas City w/Greinke over Rowland-Smith, 500* - Arizona w/Haren over Rodriguez
It seems like the only time the Royals win these days is when All-Star Zack Greinke is on the mound.
Greinke is 2-1 his last 4 starts, and is fresh off a brilliant 8 inning win over Cleveland in which he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while fanning a whopping 15 batters.
The Mariners have certainly made the most of their current homestand which will see the front-running Angels visit starting tomorrow, but this is the spot they come up flat.
Grienke's last 2 starts against Seattle shows 16 innings of 1 run ball for a 2-0 mark. I have a feeling the Mariners are going to struggle this afternoon against Greinke's stuff.
Ryan Rowland-Smith has cooled off a little of late, and his start against the Royals on August 4th shows 4 runs allowed in 4 innings of no-decision work.
Have to back the Royals to leave the Northwest with the Sunday "W".
1000♦ - Kansas City w/Greinke over Rowland-Smith
♦♦♦NOTE: Both listed starters must start, or no action on the play!♦♦♦
With a 2.07 ERA at home this year, I think we have some solid value with Arizona this Sunday afternoon.
No doubt Wandy Rodriguez has been stellar for the Astros, but look at his splits; 7-2 with a 1.73 at Minute Maid Park, 5-6 with a 3.95 ERA everywhere else.
Today Rodriguez happens to be "everywhere else", and with the way the D-Backs have been taking care of business this weekend, I have to believe Haren has a 13th win all lined up.
Haren is 2-0 his last pair of starts against the Astros, including a complete game effort that saw just 1 run score.
Rodriguez is 0-2 the last 2 times he has started against the Snakes, allowing 9 runs in just 7 frames of work.
Lay it with Haren and 'Zona this Sunday.
500♦ - Arizona w/Haren over Rodriguez
