3* Cleveland Indians (Laffey) PK over @Baltimore Orioles (Hernandez)

Aaron Laffey has pitched well since the All Star break, allowing three or fewer runs in six of his seven starts while featuring a 3.07 ERA. Cleveland has won five of his last six starts and he will face a Baltimore team that is just 20-26 against left-handed starters this season. The Cleveland bullpen has shaky numbers for the season as the pitching staff has struggled most of the year but in the last ten games the bullpen owns a very respectable 3.06 ERA. As a result of more consistent pitching, the Indians have been playing their best ball of the season in recent weeks despite losing several key players to trades.

David Hernandez showed great promise upon first being called up to the Orioles but in his last four starts his ERA is 7.11. The Orioles are just 2-5 in his last seven outings and he has allowed nine home runs in his last five starts. For the season his strikeout-to-walk ratio is a very poor 1.34 and he has actually had worse command at home with a 1.77 WHIP in Baltimore. Hernandez will face a Cleveland lineup that is batting .300 over the past ten games and the Indians own 27 wins away from home this year.

Baltimore is just 2-8 in the last ten home games and although this young team appears headed in the right direction for the long term there is limited hope of short term success the rest of the season. Baltimore owns a 5.42 ERA in the last ten games as starters and relievers have both struggled and the offense is batting just .255 in that span. The best offensive player for the Orioles, Adam Jones, is currently banged up and the Orioles are just 11-26 since the All Star break while the Indians quietly are 21-16, putting together a respectable finish after a horrible start to the year

St. Louis Rams @ Cincinnati Bengals
3 units First Half: Bengals -1
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
The St. Louis Rams are a mess, and their QB situation here is becoming pressing. The Bengals have gotten a great start from JT O'Sullivan, who will get probably all the first half snaps here, and he has a 136.3 QB rating through the first 2 games. He has very skilled recievers to throw to here in Ochocinco, Coles, and henry. Ochocinco is averaging 28.4 yards a catch already, and could break one against the Rams. The Benglas out-played the Pats in the first half last game, and also played the Saints even in the first half in week one. Rams torched for 14 with starters in vs Falcons, and lost to the lowly Jets in the first half in their second contest. I am going with the Bengals here in the first half.

15* on Jacksonville Jaguars +7.5

20* No Doubt Rout Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 -110

Take the Phillies on the run line over the Pirates on Thursday. Philadelphia starter, J.A. Happ has been outstanding in his 17 starts this season. He is 8-2 on the season with a 2.61 ERA and 1.93 WHIP. On the road he is 5-1 on the season with a 1.85 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, and in his last 3 starts he is 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA. He'll square off against the Pirates' Charlie Morton, who is 3-6 this season with a 5.21 ERA and 1.58 WHIP, including a 9.49 ERA and 2.27 WHIP over his last 3 starts. With big edges in pitching and offense tonight, jump on the Philly run line.

15* White Sox/Red Sox UNDER 10

Play on the Under in tonight's match up between the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox. Chicago starter, John Danks has been on a roll lately, winning 2 of his last 3 starts while earning a 1.66 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in those appearances. All three of those games stayed under the total. Red Sox starter, Junichi Tazawa has shown some promise, particularly at home where he is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. The good part about Tazawa starting is that they will likely limit his pitches, meaning the Boston Bullpen, which happens to be one of the best in the American League, can take over and finish the game out without many garbage runs being tacked on.

1-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 37.5 Jacksonville at Philadelphia

Philadelphia should be looking to make a statement tonight and I expect a sharp showing from Donovan McNabb and the offense. The Jaguars gave up 24 points to Tampa Bay's offense last week and I will go out on a limb and say that the Eagles attack is much, much better. Philadelphia has gone 'over' the total in both of its preseason games this year and Jacksonville is 1-1. I think that getting to see Mike Vick in the second half against backups and third-string defenders is also a huge benefit to us. Even if I don't expect to seem him look good throwing the ball he can still run and can still move the chains. I expect to see plenty of offense throughout and I think that the Eagles might reach 30 points all by themselves.
