Gio Gonzalez gets the start for Oakland today and he is considered by many a future #2 starter in this league. He had a rough outing in his lone start this season but this a great opportunity for the young pitcher to bounce back and gain some confidence especially since the Tigers have scored just 9 runs in their last four visits here. Make note Detroit is batting just .229 vs. southpaws on the highway this season as well.

Detroit will send Armando Gallaraga to the hill who owns a 5.87 ERA on the road this season; with a 1-4 record and has allowed 47 hits and 25 earned runs in 38.1 innings of road work. Gallaraga faced Oakland earlier this season; pitching 41 pitches and giving up 5 earned runs failing to make it out of the first inning. The Tigers have dropped their last five games in Oakland and we'll fade Gallaraga and the Tigers bats who have been struggling to drive in runs of late.

This is a total mismatch on the mound. Dan Haren has been on of the best starters in the Majors this year, going 6-5 with a 2.25 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP. His record doesn't reflect how well he's thrown this season due to a serious lack of run support, but Haren should give Arizona a great chance to win tonight, particularly with Bronson Arroyo on the mound for the Reds. Arroyo currently has an ERA of 5.54 and a WHIP of 1.46, but his last 3 starts are the most concerning. In those appearances, he is 1-2 with an 8.21 ERA and a 1.96 WHIP. The Diamondbacks will need to throw some support Haren's way to pick up the victory, but it's hard to pass up on a pitcher that has been this good at this price tonight.

Dan Haren and the Diamondbacks open a three-game series against Bronson Arroyo and the Reds in Cincinnati this evening. Haren enters tonight's contest in terrific season-long KW form with 14 walks and 104 strikeouts, including 6 walks and 50 strikeouts in his last eight road starts. With Arroyo 1-4 in his last five starts and just 3-11 in his last fourteen June starts, look for Haren and the Diamondbacks to win the opener here tonight.

Houston starter Mike Hampton returns after a visit to the 15 day disabled list. The lefthander has been injury prone his entire career so a two week visit must have seemed like a nap. Look for some rust to acumulate on the lefthander has he was pitching well before going on the shelf, to regain that control is not always easy, look for the Padres offense to wake up and get to Hampton.

I look for the Brewers to take another game from the hurting Mets. I have found several trends that says this will happen. First, we have trends totaling 100-27 SU in favor of the Brewers winning. And finally we find the Brewers are 22-6 SU since 2006 season at home vs a team that has lost at least their last three games and it is not the first game of a series. Take the Home Dogs for a win tonight.

15 Dime Astros - Told you Roy Oswalt was money against this struggling Padres lineup.
Now we bank on Mike Hampton to bring his record even and hit .500, while he lowers his ERA. Shouldn't be too hard, just check these facts and figures out: San Diego ranks last in the bigs with a paltry 287 runs (3.8 per game), it is batting .236 and has lost 17 of 25 games this month.
Houston has won six straight games against the Friars, and is now 13-4 against teams out of the NL West. Not too shabby, and we'll build upon that with tonight's win.
After all, as long as the N.L. Central race appears to be wide open as near the halfway point, Houston has much more motivation to be concerned with, than continuing its domination of the West. There are only six games separating first-place Milwaukee from last-place Pittsburgh, and the Astros are in the middle of the mix, sitting four back of the Brewers.
Since a nasty 2-9 slide in mid-May, the Astros have won 18 of their last 29 since May 29, including four of five most recently.
Look for the winning to continue and the 'Stros to get it done at pitcher-friendly PETCO.
5 Dime Red Sox - If this all sounds familiar, it's because you were part of my 4-1 night Monday, and read how the Red Sox would open the series with the Orioles and win on the Run Line. Well, as they say, if it ain't broke, you don't fix it. And my philosophy stands the same with this game tonight, as it did in the first game.
The Red Sox boast the best team in baseball, regardless of whether they have the best record in baseball (it is second best). Hands down - Boston is the best team.
The American League East-leading Red Sox got on track with the offense last night, somewhat, and delivered a 4-0 win, their ninth straight over the Orioles. The O's came into this series with the majors’ third-worst ERA (4.97), so I don't suspect it gets any easier, especially when we take a look inside the series numbers.
Let's start with the meeting in April, when the Sox hosted and outscored Baltimore 30-14 and swept the four-game series. Boston has plated 60 runs in winning the last eight meetings, while it has won 12 of the last 13 in the series and six of the last eight at Camden Yards.
The Orioles are coming off two straight losses - Sunday’s 5-3 setback to Washington and last night's 4-0 loss. That makes it five of seven losses for Baltimore.
