White Sox+111

Chicago is playing very good lately winners of eight of their last 10 games. Tonight they send Jose Contreras to the mound who has settled in his last three starts with a 2.95 ERA with 18 strike outs and 3 walks. After struggling on the road earlier in the season things have finally come together. He gave up just three earned runs in his last 14 innings of road work against the Brewers and the Reds. He has allowed just seven earned runs in his last four starts.

The White Sox are hitting .385 in their last 10 games against south paws. Jeremy Sowers, a lefty has a 5.44 ERA on the season and a bad 24/22 strike out/walk ratio has been struggling all year. His last start which was his best start of the year came against the Reds, tonight the hot bats of the streaking White Sox is a whole other story. The Tribe is 0-4 in Sowers' last four starts vs. the Sox which isn't a good sign. The Trible who have lost eight of their last 10 games are in a huge batting slump and have fallen way below fans and analysts expectations. Hard to pass up the White Sox given their solid of play of last as dogs in this situation.

Astros at Padres
Pick: Astros -120
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
The Astros have quietly been playing some good baseball lately, as they look to rebound from last night's 4-3 loss to the Padres. San Diego rallied from a 3-1 deficit with three runs in the 7th inning to claim Tuesday's game, but may be without first baseman Adrian Gonzalez tonight, who strained his knee sliding into third base. Houston has won six of its past ten, with all four losses coming by a run each. The Astros have fared well after one-run games this season, going 15-7, including a 7-3 mark off a one-run loss. Brian Moehler may not be an ace on the Houston staff, but the veteran right has found ways to win games, going 4-4, including a 4-1 mark on the road. It does help Moehler that he's pitching in a pitcher's park against a very weak and inexperienced lineup in San Diego. Will Silva gets the ball for the Padres, as the right-hander has made four starts this season, with not one of those outings being a quality one. I'll side with the Astros to pick up the victory over the Padres.

St Louis vs SF Giants
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Matt Cain didn't fare well in his latest attempt to win his 10th game. Facing the struggling St. Louis Cardinals might help him finally accomplish that feat. In his last outing, Cain matched a season high by allowing five runs and six hits while striking out nine in seven innings of a 5-1 loss at Milwaukee on Friday. He also gave up five runs against Colorado in his previous defeat on May 2 and I expect him to struggle again this evening! Cain is 1-1 with a 6.48 ERA in three starts against St. Louis.Though he pitched well in his last outing, Adam Wainwright (8-5, 3.51) looks to bounce back from his first loss since June 5. The right-hander,who won his previous three starts, gave up three runs - two earned - and seven hits in seven innings of a 3-1 loss to Minnesota on Friday; I expect him to be sharp in front of the hometown crowd tonight though! It's very interesting to note that the Giants are a horrible 2-5 (-2.8 units) as a road dog of +100 to +125 while the Cards, despite their poor play of late, are a decent 29-25 against right-handed starters! When you take into account all of the above factors,I must highly recommend a play on the CARDINALS!

15 Dime - Angels
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
Jered Weaver has been having an All-Star season for the Angels, but he’s not even the hottest pitcher taking the mound in Arlington tonight.

Rangers right-hander Kevin Millwood (8-5, 2.64 ERA) went 4-1 with a 1.30 ERA in June, and he is third in the American League in innings pitched (112 2/3), fifth in ERA and sixth in wins.

He also already has beaten Los Angeles this year, allowing two runs in six innings of a 10-8 victory on May 15. He has 12 quality starts in 16 outings this season.

Weaver (8-3, 2.65) has gotten roughed up a little over his last two starts, giving up nine runs in 11 1/3 innings over his last two outings after going 7-2 with a 2.08 ERA in his first 13 starts.

The Angels right-hander has pitched well against Texas, however, with a 2.64 ERA in 10 career starts, and especially well in Arlington, with a 2.18 ERA in five outings.

With two of the AL’s top six pitchers in ERA taking the hill today, and both right-handers going deep into most of their starts, I don’t expect many runs to cross the plate today. Take the under.
