KYLE POLSON

Blue Jays at Rays
Pick: Rays -1.5

David Price will take the mound for the Rays and is a perfect 5-0 in 6 starts against the Blue Jays. Tampa has dominated the Blue Jays winning 20 of the last 26 games at home. Price is 15-6 on the season and 7-2 at home this season. We can expect Price to have a quality outing and Tampa Bay will bring the bats. Marcum will be on the road today and I dont see him having a good performance. It will be hard to match Price at home with September starting. The playoff hunt is on, expect Tampa to show up today.

30 DIME BOSTON RED SOX -1½

12-0. That’s Jon Lester’s career record against the Baltimore Orioles. And it’s not a fluky 12-0, either, as he’s got an incredible 2.00 ERA in those 15 starts. In three games this year against the O’s, Lester has surrendered one run in 19 innings of work, with Baltimore’s hitters batting a paltry .197.

The Red Sox won those three games this season by scores of 4-3, 8-2 and 9-3, part of their 14-1 record when Lester faces the Orioles. And get this: Of those 14 wins, 11 have covered the run line! And another thing: The hard-thrawing southpaw is 5-0 with a 1.83 ERA in seven career starts at Camden Yards, with Boston going 6-1.

The last time Lester took the mound was Friday in Tampa Bay and he held the Rays to just two hits and five walks in seven innings, giving up just one unearned run while whiffing 10 in a 3-1 road victory. In fact, in Lester’s last three road starts, he’s faced the three best teams in the American League – Yankees, Rangers, Rays – and allowed just that one unearned run in Tampa over a span of 21 1/3 innings!

Chew on that for a minute: Facing three increedible offensive clubs, all on the road, Lester gave up just one unearned run, 11 hits and 11 walks while fanning 21 in 21 1/3 innings. Absolutely phenomenal. Now he’s facing the franchise he has absolutely OWNED in his career – a franchise that’s batting just .223 in its last 10 games, including .229 against lefties?

Look, I know the Orioles are playing better baseball under Buck Showalter – they’ve won 17 of 27 games, in fact. And I know they’ve fared well against Boston this season (7-6 in 13 meetings). But they’re not winning tonight, not against Lester and not when Baltimore is harding the ball to rookie Jacob Arrieta, who is 4-6 with a 5.10 ERA on the season and whose team has scored exactly two runs in his last three starts, losing all three by a combined score of 13-2.

Red Sox roll BIG in this one!

ROCKETMAN

3* San Diego -140

San Diego is 76-54 overall this year while Arizona comes in with a 53-79 overall record on the season. San Diego sits in 1st place in the NL West and they certainly don't want anybody catching up to them. This has got to be an excited team with the year they are having. San Diego is 8-1 this year as a road favorite of -125 to -150. Arizona is 54-83 last 3 years and 10-26 this year in day games. San Diego is 27-15 this year in day games. San Diego bullpen has a 2.80 ERA overall and a 3.14 ERA on the road this season. Arizona bullpen has a 5.92 ERA overall this year and a 5.53 ERA at home this season. Mat Latos is 13-5 with a 2.28 ERA overall this year, 9-3 with a 2.41 ERA on the road and 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA his last 3 starts. Latos is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA overall vs Arizona since 1997. We'll play San Diego for 3 units tonight!

Marc Lawrence.

San Diego -140

As you know, we are big fans of Padres right-hander Mat Latos, especially since he switched to the opposite side of the rubber in early May. Since then he is 14-5 in his team starts, including 10-3 away. He enters this game in great KW form with three walks and 25 strikeouts in his last three starts knowing he is 1-0 in his only career team start against the Diamondbacks. With that, look for the Padres to improve to 10-4 the last 14 games in this park here tonight. We recommend a 3-unit play on San Diego.
