BREWERS
Take the Brewers for the road win tonight over the Pirates.

It’s hard to believe the Pirates are the chalk here. They have lost 17 straight to Milwaukee and it’s not like they’re sending an All Star to the mound tonight.Plus it’s not like the Buccos have been competitive in these matchups. The Brewers have outscored them 111-49 in those 17 games and have scored 32 runs in winning all five meetings this year. The Bucs have dropped 12 of their last 17 overall and their offense has gone into the tank, scoring three runs or fewer in six of their last seven. With the dominance Milwaukee has exhibited in this matchup I just can’t see how the Bucs are favored. I know they’re due and it’s at PNC Park, but until the Pirates can win one game I’m going against them at this price.
Take the Brewers as they grab the road win.

Rays at White Sox
Play: White Sox

The Rays are favored on Monday because of name and name alone. That name belongs to David Price who is still receiving fame from his solid pitching last season even though it was very limited. More on him later. Tampa Bay is coming off a series sweep at Kansas City but let’s face it, the Royals are far from a strong team right now. The Rays are still five games under .500 on the road and even though their overall record is 3.5 games better than the White Sox, they should not be laying here. Chicago won two of three over the weekend against Baltimore to move to two games over .500 at home and remain just a game and a half behind Detroit in the American League Central. Price has been anything but consistent this season. In nine starts, he has allowed two runs or fewer six times but he has also allowed five runs or more in the other three starts. In those six good outings, only two were quality performances because he lacked the innings in the others despite all four of those being at least 100-pitch performances. Gavin Floyd counters for the White Sox and he had a tough finish to the first half. After tossing eight consecutive quality starts, he was roughed up for five runs in each of his last two outings but to his credit, both of those were on the road. He has been outstanding at home, posting a 2.55 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with seven of his eight starts being quality performances. Only four of his 10 road starts were quality but one of those came in Tampa Bay where he limited the Rays to two runs on six hits in seven innings in a 12-2 White Sox victory. Chicago also falls into a very solid underdog situation. Play against American League favorites of -150 or less that are averaging 5.2 rpg or more on the season going up against an opponent with a starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.10 or better over his last 10 games. This situation is 31-14 (68.9 percent) over the last five seasons. Tampa Bay is just 5-17 as a road favorite of -125 or less this year while Chicago is 14-4 as a home underdog of +125 or less over the last two seasons. 7* Chicago White Sox
