EZWINNERS

Boston Red Sox -125

The Red Sox send Daisuke Matsuzaka to the mound for this start against Toronto. Dice K has not been pitching his best lately, but he has great numbers against Toronto in his career. Dice K is 1-0 this season against the Blue Jays with an ERA of only 1.29 and in eight career starts Dice K is 5-1 against Toronto with an ERA of 3.51. Toronto sends Jesse Litsch to the mound for this last game before the All Star break and Litsch has been struggling. In his last three starts Litsch is 0-2 and has an ERA of 7.63. The Red Sox bats are hot and I look for them to give Dice K plenty of run support in this game. Play on Boston.

St. Louis Cardinals +112

I'll take the Cards as a solid underdog today vs. Houston. This team should not be an underdog to the lowly Astros, who are 36-52 this season. Houston is hitting just .237 this year while scoring 3.5 RPG. They are scoring 3.3 RPG against right-handed starters and 2.9 RPG over their last 7 games. Meanwhile, the Cards are scoring 4.8 RPG against lefty starters this season and 5.6 RPG over their last 7 games.

Blake Hawksworth continues getting overlooked today, and he's been solid in his last 3 starts going 1-1 with a 3.37 ERA. Wandy Rodriquez is certainly overvalued here as the lefty is just 6-10 with a 5.00 ERA and 1.553 WHIP this season. Rodriquez is 4-10 with a 4.19 ERA in 16 career starts vs. St. Louis. The Cardinals are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game. The Astros are 1-7 in Rodriguez's last 8 starts with 4 days of rest. The Astros are 1-6 in Rodriguez's last 7 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Bet the Cardinals Sunday.

LA DODGERS - 1.5 RUNS + 155
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Dodgers return the favor today on National TV. as the Jr. O show is laying the 1.5 runs +155 and playing the Boys of Blue tonight on ESPN. The Carlos Silva show has been awesome on the road and that will get the public's attention tonight. We will buck that public love and lay the runs (1.5) and take a Los Dodgers squad here that is ready to pound somebody! Look at the #'s Dodgers 6-2 the last 8 and a smooth 6-0 100% in their last 6 games following a poor outing. The Vincent Padilla show will be the winning show and the Dodgers move to 49-39 after tonight.

Play Oakland over Los Angeles
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Angels have been struggling with their bats on this road trip, but did manage a 6-5 extra inning win over Oakland on Friday night. Both Jered Weaver of Los Angeles and Trevor Cahill of Oakland have had outstanding runs in the first-half, both solid histories against the today’s challenging offenses. However, the A’s are 4-1 in Cahill’s starts versus the Angels and 7-1 in game #3 of a series. Overall the Angels are running at 1-5 on this current road trip. Behind Jered Weaver the Angels are 2-5 in his road outings against Los Angeles.

SEAN MURPHY

Padres @ Rockies
PICK: Over 9

Last night's game between these two was low-scoring, with the Rockies prevailing 4-2. I expect Sunday's contest to play out a lot more like Friday's slugfest however.

The Padres offense has been in fine form during this road trip, plating at least five runs in four of their last five ball games. As a team, they've been crushing left-handed pitching lately, batting a collective .327 over their last 10 games. They'll get a chance to tee off on a struggling left-hander in Jeff Francis this afternoon.

Perhaps no team is hotter at the plate right now than the Colorado Rockies. They're hitting .335 as a team over their last 10 contests, and have plated 63 runs during the first nine games of this homestand.

It's also worth noting we have a predominantly 'over' umpire calling balls and strikes today in Ed Hickox. His games this season have totaled an average of over 10 runs per game.

Clayton Richard will get the call for the visiting Padres this afternoon. He may own a solid 6-4 record and 3.00 ERA, but he hasn't had an easy time pitching on the road. Opponents are hitting .283 against him away from pitcher-friendly Petco Park. He's posted a less than impressive 30:18 strikeout to walk ratio in 45 1/3 innings pitched on the road this season.

Colorado's current roster is hitting just a shade over .200 in 91 career at-bats against Richard. However, as I mentioned, they're smoking hot at the plate right now, and should be able to send him to his second consecutive rough outing after allowing nine hits and five earned runs over six innings against the Nationals earlier this week.

The Rockies will counter with Jeff Francis. He has been downright awful lately, allowing 13 hits and 13 earned runs over his last two outings, spanning just seven innings of work. Those two games totaled 16 and 21 runs.

The current Padres roster is hitting just .232 and slugging .354 in 82 career at-bats against Francis, but it's worth noting that every one of their regulars have collected at least one hit off of him. Adrian Gonzalez and Yorvit Torrealba have both homered off of Francis.

On a day where conditions are favorable for the hitters at Coors Field, I have no problem recommending a play on the over, with the number sitting south of 10. Take the over.
