1* on Yankees/Mariners OVER 9

Two of the worst starters in the American League go at it Tuesday when the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners square off in Game 2 of this series. A.J. Burnett is 9-11 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.451 WHIP in 29 starts this season, while Charlie Furbush is 2-7 with a 6.25 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in nine starts. Both offenses are going to be licking their chops at the opportunity to face these starters. Burnett is 10-1 OVER (+9.1 Units) in road games vs teams who strand 6.9 or less runners on base per game over the last 2 seasons. Teams are averaging a combined 12.3 runs/game in this spot. The OVER is 9-2 in Yankees last 11 vs. American League West. The OVER is 5-0-1 in Burnett's last 6 starts as a favorite. The OVER is 5-1-1 in Burnett's last 7 road starts. The OVER is 7-1-1 in the last 9 meetings in this series, including 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings in Seattle. Take the OVER 9 runs here.

Los Angeles Angels -103

I really like the Angels to find a way to win on the road against the A's tonight. Los Angeles comes in just 3 games back of the Rangers in the AL West race, while the A's are completely out of the picture. Oakland took the first game of the series 6-3 on Monday, giving LA two straight losses. The focus and motivation will be there for the entire Angels team on Tuesday, and I think they have a great shot at winning behind starter Jerome Williams.

Williams will be making just his fourth start since 2007, but he has really looked good in his 3 starts this season. He is a perfect 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 0.773 WHIP. In two of those starts he has allowed just 1 ER and has pitched at least seven innings in all three. The A's will counter with Guillermo Moscoso, who is a respectable 8-7 with a 3.35 ERA, but the Angels are just 2-6 in Moscoso's last 8 starts as an underdog.

Los Angeles is 37-14 in their last 51 games as a favorite, 23-9 in their last 32 games following a loss, and 6-1 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series. BET THE ANGELS!

Blue Jays/Red Sox OVER 10

Brandon Morrow and Tim Wakefield square off for the second time in a week Tuesday. In their first meeting on 9/7, Morrow gave up eight runs and Wakefield yielded four in an 11-10 victory by the Blue Jays for 21 combined runs. I expect another high-scoring affair in the rematch tonight.

Morrow is 9-10 with a 5.12 ERA and 1.320 WHIP in 26 starts this season, including 0-2 with a 9.20 ERA and 1.596 WHIP in his last three starts. Wakefield is 6-6 with a 5.03 ERA and 1.324 WHIP on the year, and 0-1 with a 7.54 ERA and 1.745 WHIP in his last three outings.

No team owns Morrow quite like the Red Sox. Morrow is 1-2 with a 12.08 ERA and 2.250 WHIP in six career starts against Boston. The OVER is 6-0 in those six games.

The OVER is 6-1-1 in Blue Jays last 8 games with a total set of 9.0-10.5. The OVER is 5-1 in Blue Jays last 6 road games. The OVER is 12-3-1 in Toronto's last 16 games overall. The OVER is 5-0-1 in Red Sox last 6 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. The OVER is 6-1-1 in Red Sox last 8 games with the total set at 9.0-10.5. The OVER is 7-1 in Wakefield's last 8 starts as a home favorite of -110 to -150. Bet the OVER in this game Tuesday.

1 Unit on St. Louis Cardinals -164

The Cards, who are trying to climb back into playoff contention, will be motivated by last night's loss, which snapped a 5-game win streak. Plus, they have the edge on the mound with former Cy Young winner Chris Carpenter, who is 12-3 (15-4 on the money line) with an ERA of 2.64 in 19 career starts against Pittsburgh. The Cardinals are 13-3 in Carpenter's last 16 starts as a road favorite of -151 to -200. We'll take St. Louis.
