Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
David Price continues to get way too much respect from the oddsmakers as tonight we can grab the Yankees, usually a steep favorite at home, at a very reasonable price. It's not like Price has pitched well away from Tropicana Field either posting a 6.81 ERA in eight road starts. As a team, Tampa Bay is nine games under .500 on the road and fading badly in the Wild Card chase. The Yankees have won 43 of their last 61 games and getting them at this price is a bargain.

San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants
Prediction: Under
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
San Francisco is 12-1 UNDER in the last 13 starts made by Tim Lincecum if they lost their last game and they are 6-0 UNDER with Lincecum when he has 4 days of rest. The Giants are 5-1 UNDER their last 6 games overall and they are 8-3 UNDER with Lincecum in his last 11 starts vs. the Padres. San Diego is 7-1 UNDER off a loss and they are 7-3 UNDER after allowing 5 or more runs in their last game. The Padres are 4-1-1 UNDER with Kevin Correia when he starts with 5 days of rest. PLAY ON 'UNDER'

1 Unit on Colorado Rockies -1.5 -115
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVlCE PLAYS VlSlT THESPREAD.COM
Bottom Line: Colorado is 3-0 against the Reds this season, winning all 3 of those matchups by 2 or more runs. In fact, the Rockies are 12-3 against the Reds over the last 3 seasons and I expect the domination to continue here with another win of at least 2 runs. Colorado is averaging 5.8 runs per game at home while Cincy is averaging just 4.0 on the road. That's nearly a 2-run margin there and then we take into consideration that Cincy's starter, Matt Maloney, is 0-3 with an ERA of 7.64 over his last 3 starts with the Reds losing by no less than 3 runs in any of them. On the other side, the Rockies are 17-10 in Marquis' starts this season, in which he has posted a solid ERA of 3.75. Take the Rocks on the run line.

Texas Rangers @ Cleveland Indians
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Texas Rangers continue to be the most Under-friendly team in baseball, and we look for more of the same tonight in Game 2 of their doubleheader vs. the Cleveland Indians.

Brandon McCarty looked good in his first Major League start in three months last week, allowing only one run and three hits in 6.1 innings vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. McCarty does have a track record vs. the Indians, and it is a very good one. He has allowed three runs or less in all six of his career starts vs. Cleveland, including one start this season back in April. It helps that he is facing a Tribe lineup that is averaging just 3.50 runs over the last 10 games.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Aaron Laffey is a rare bright spot in was has been a disastrous season for the Indians, as he has a winning 7-4 record with a nice 3.55 ERA. Most importantly, he is pitching his best ball of the season right now, as he has allowed three earned runs or less in six consecutive starts and in eight of his last nine outings. The promising southpaw is facing a Texas lineup that is batting a disappointing .230 vs. left-handed pitching on the road this year.

Finally, pending the result of Game 1 tonight, the Under is 37-14-2 in the last 53 Texas road games, as well as 84-45-7 in all Rangers games for the entire season! The Under is also 22-7-1 in the last 30 Cleveland home games, so look for runs to be scarce in the nightcap.

Athletics (RL) @ White Sox (RL)
PICK: White Sox (RL)

The Sox are feeling better about themselves as they have won five of the last six. Chicago starters have recorded quality starts in 13 of the past 14 games.

Detroit at Kansas City

For Tuesday I am going with Detroit as they open a series at KC. The Royals are a dreadful 33 games under .500 and counting down the days. Tonight Trey Hillman trots out journeyman hurler Bruce Chen, 1-6, 5.24. Chen get's yet another shot as Bannister has some health concerns. Stubborn fact is Chen has recorded one single victory in the Big's in the last 4 years. While the Royals future looks bleak the opposite certainly holds true for Tigers starter Rick Porcello, 12-8, 4.18. not many pitchers win a dozen games in the major's before celebrating their 21st birthday. In my opinion he should handle this Royals line up. Tigers Run Line!

Cubs -120 at PITTSBURGH
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Another comp play winner on Monday as Cincinnati wins outright at Rutgers.

Now 31-14-3 with our comp plays the last 48 days.

No issue tonight laying a little road wood with the Cubs tonight as they look to notch another win over the slumping Pirates.

Pittsburgh has lost 10 of their last 11 games, and they have also lost 3 of the 4 games played against Chicago this season at home. Overall, Pittsburgh is just 2-7 versus the Cubbies this season.

Pirates starter Zach Duke has dropped his last pair of starts, and he is winless over his last 5 starts against Chicago, going 0-4.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Ryan Dempster will counter, and Dempster just worked 7 innings without allowing an earned run in a hard-luck loss to the White Sox. Look for Dempster to get some defense played behind him tonight, and for the Chicago bats to once again hand Duke a loss.

Play on the Cubbies.

Tampa Bay at NY YANKEES
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Tuesday night in the Bronx, and the hitting shoes should be on for both Tampa Bay, and New York.

Tampa was swept in yesterday's double-header, scoring just 2 runs total against Sabathia and Burnett. Expect the Rays to get more than 1 run tonight, as Yankees starter Chad Gaudin does sport an over 5 season ERA this year.

The Rays will turn to David Price whose road ERA is a sky-high, 6.81.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
New York has played OVER the total in 6 of their last 8 games, and 7 of their last 10 overall.

The Yanks are also on a 9-3 OVER run their last 12 games played against the AL East, and with Price and Gaudin serving them up this evening, look for another OVER to hit the books when these 9 innings are completed.

Texas -130 at CLEVELAND, Game 1
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Monday's free play on the Rangers over the Indians was postponed, but we'll stick with the same selection on Tuesday, backing Texas and Tommy Hunter in Game 1 of the doubleheader

This one’s all about the rookie Hunter. The kid from Alabama has been a big-time surprise for Texas this season, going 7-3 with a 3.14 ERA in 13 starts. He’s pitched at least six innings in seven of his last 10 starts and has made it through at least five innings in every game – trust me, that’s NOT easy for rookie pitchers to accomplish.

Hunter’s most impressive performance so far probably came -- coincidentally -- in Cleveland a month ago. In that contest, he shutout the Tribe over a career-high 7 2/3 innings, allowing just six hits and no walks in a 5-0 victory. The Rangers are 8-5 behind Hunter, including 6-3 in his last nine starts. Also, the right-hander has given up three earned runs or fewer in all five of his road outings, posting a stellar 2.20 ERA.

Another reason to love the Rangers is the state of these two franchises. Texas is obviously challenging Boston for the A.L. wild card, while the Indians not only are playing out the string, but every key player they had to start the season is gone: The Indians traded Victor Martinez, Mark DeRosa and Cliff Lee, while Grady Sizemore has been injured all year and was just shut down earlier this week.

The Rangers have won five of six against Cleveland this season, outscoring the Indians 38-15 in those five victories. Throw in the fact that Cleveland is going with rookie Carlos Carrasco on the mound – Carrasco gave up six runs in three innings in his major-league debut Tuesday at Detroit, losing 8-5 – and this one’s a no-brainer. Back Hunter and the Rangers, who are 20-8 in their last 29 games when favored.

Minnesota @ Toronto
Play: Toronto
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Minnesota upset Toronto yesterday so Toronto will want some revenge tonight. Toronto bullpen has a 3.84 ERA at home this season. Ricky Romero is 11-7 overall this year including 7-4 at home on the season. Toronto is 15-6 overall vs Minnesota last 3 years including 6-1 at home vs Minnesota last 3 seasons. Romero has a 2.25 ERA overall vs Minnesota since 1997. Twins are 18-40 in their last 58 vs. American League East. Twins are 14-38 in their last 52 road games vs. a left-handed starter. Twins are 2-8 in their last 10 games vs. a left-handed starter. Blue Jays are 36-17 in their last 53 vs. American League Central. We'll recommend a small play on Toronto tonight!

Prediction: Detroit Tigers
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
DET has been nails lately winning 6 in a row which included a weekend sweep of TB on the road. Also today they have there young stud Rookie Porcello on the mound. He has seemed to catch his second win as he has been great his last two outtings both wins. He has split his games against KC this season going 12 innings and only allowing 6 runs. This should be enough today as DET’s lineup has been playing very well putting up very strong numbers.

Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels
Prediction: Los Angeles Angels
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The final meeting in the season series between the Mariners and Angels is expected to pit Seattle southpaw Ryan Rowland-Smith against LA right-hander John Lackey. I expect that matchup to favor the Angles.

Lackey got off to a slow start this season. In fact, his ERA was above six in mid-June and was still a lofty 5.18 in the first week of July. However, it's been steadily coming down ever since. He enters this game with a 9-7 record and a respectable 3.74 ERA. Keep in mind that this guy was 58-30 the past four years (incl. 19-9 in 2007) with his ERA never above 3.75. In other words, he knows how to pitch! That's certainly been the case lately. In fact, in his last two starts, Lackey has allowed just a single run through 17 complete innings. That's a 0.53 ERA.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
With all due respect to Smith, who has been solid for the Mariners, he's not currently pitching quite as well as Lackey. Other than his first start (when he allowed two unearned runs in 3.1 innings) Smith has allowed two earned runs or more in all of his starts this season. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that - it's just difficult when the opposing pitcher is allowing 0 or 1 runs. Making things even more difficult for Smith, who has a poor 5.23 ERA on the road, the Angels have a much better hitting lineup than the Mariners - and they're playing in front of their home fans. Consider laying the wood with LA

1 Unit on Atlanta Braves -140
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
After sweeping the reigning World Series champs in 4 straight, expect a letdown from the Astros tonight against a Braves club hungry for a win after dropping 5 in a row. The Braves have had a day off to regroup and that is key here. The lack of run support is largely responsible for the losing streak and I think the Braves can get something going at the plate tonight against Paulino, who is 1-7 with an ERA of 5.85 on the season and 0-3 with an ERA of 10.95 over his last 3 starts. Vazquez has been at his best on the road for the Braves, going 7-2 with an ERA of 3.30 this season. These teams haven't faced off since May, but Atlanta has lost its last 2 to the Astros and that puts us in a solid revenge situation here. In fact, Atlanta is 23-9 when playing with double revenge - 2 straight losses against opponent this season, winning by an average score of 5.2 to 3.3 in these games. Bet the Braves.

FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off a terrible series where they swept in a four-games at Houston after losing 4-3 on Monday. The Phillies will try to end their season-high five-game road slide tonight night when they send Pedro Martinez to the mound as they look to continue their domination of the Washington Nationals. The Phillies have won seven straight over Washington and lead the season series 10-2.The Philadelphia hitters have put up gaudy numbers against the Nationals as second baseman Chase Utley is hitting .378 with eight RBIs, center fielder Shane Victorino is batting .347 with seven RBIs and Raul Ibanez is hitting .440 with six homers and 18 RBIs.They will start Pedro Martinez (3-0, 3.52 ERA) who in his last outing gave up one run over a season-high seven innings Thursday to outduel reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum in a 2-1 victory over San Francisco. The Phillies are 5-0 in the three-time Cy Young Award winner's starts and Martinez is 4-3 with a 2.94 ERA in eight career starts against the Nationals' franchise.Philadelphia has also won its last six games in which it has faced Washington's John Lannan (8-10, 4.09) who will start today for the Nationals. Lannan is 0-1 with a 7.97 ERA in his last four starts and he gave up five runs over five innings last Tuesday in a 7-0 loss to San Diego. Washington has been terrible of late but snapped a season worst eight game losing streak by rallying for a 5-4 victory over Florida yesterday with three runs in the bottom of the ninth. The Phillies are 5-1 this year at nationals park and have dominated Lannan who is 0-5 with a 5.89 ERA in seven career outings against the Phillies. After losing five straight on the road, the Phillies will get back on track with Martinez on the mound and a pitcher they have beat everytime they faced him.

Jeff Saad

Rangers at Indians

Texas has lost two of its top run producers of late, a tough blow in this pennant race. The only plus is that the pitching has held up all season and has been very good. Starter Brandon McCarthy is decent, not walking anyone with a 6-2 record in 70 innings. Cleveland has also lost some of its top offensive players since the first half of the season, plus lefty Aaron Laffey has been very good (7-4, 3.36 ERA). Play the Rangers/Indians Under the total.
