Today PHI rolls out ace Cliff Lee as he tries to stay perfect with the new team. He will face ARI ace Harren who has not quite been as good lately. Lee is 3-0 since coming to Philly giving up only three runs and 16 hits over 24 innings with his new club and striking out 23. Not sure you can get any better than this. On the other hand Harren has gone 2-2 since the all star break giving up a 5.10 ERA. Not helping Harren today is also the fact that ARI just can't get hits lately. Yesterday they were held to only 3 hits and 1 run. On the other hand PHI is tearing it up scoring over 5 runs per game in last 7 games going 6-1 in that stretch. Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers has developed into one of the best young pitchers in all baseball, and he had dominated the St. Louis Cardinals in his brief career. Meanwhile, Adam Wainwright is also in raging form, so look for both offenses to struggle tonight.
Kershaw may be just 8-7, but that is through no fault of his own, as he owns an excellent 2.91 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 142 strikeouts in 136 innings. Furthermore, has he has allowed two runs or less in all three of his starts vs. the Cardinals since being recalled last year, including one masterpiece this year where he tossed eight scoreless innings while allowing just four hits. He is facing a St. Louis lineup that us batting just .233 vs. southpaws on the road this year.

Not to be outdone, Wainwright has now remarkably allowed two earned runs or less in 10 consecutive starts. Yankees face the lefty Anderson for the third time this season and they send newly acquired Chad Gaudin to the mound for a start against the Athletics on Wednesday night. I'm liking the Yankees to hit Anderson hard as they have a .353 average in his two starts against them. Anderson's line is 12IP 18H 3BB 9 ER and 3HR. As I mentioned the Yankees always hit LHP as they have a stunning .299 average and are scoring 6.69 runs per 9 innings vs. LHP on the road this year. They are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. a LH starter and are 10-2 in their last 12 meetings. I think we are getting great value here with the Yankees at -120 despite Gaudin going if you remember he did throw an 8 inning 1 hitter at Texas when he was with the Padres earlier this year.

The Angels counter with Weaver and are 13-3 in his last 16 starts and 5-0 in his last 5 starts vs. the American League Central. Weaver was rocked last time out and that bodes well for the Halos also, as they are 5-0 in his last 5 starts following an outing of less than 4 innings in his last appearance.
