TAMPA BAY @ N.Y. RANGERS | 06/03 | 8:00 PM EDT
TAMPA BAY -125
ANALYSIS: We faded the Lightning in Game 1 worrying they were rusty, and even Rangers coach Gerard Gallant admitted they were in a shockingly one-sided 6-2 Tampa Bay loss. I fully expect a very different Bolts team in Game 2 on Friday, and all-world netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy never has back-to-back poor efforts in the postseason. There's a reason Tampa Bay has won 18 straight playoff games following a loss.

ST. LOUIS @ CHI. CUBS | 06/03 | 2:20 PM EDT
ST. LOUIS -105
ANALYSIS: As the No. 1 MLB capper currently, I feel an obligation to pick the lone afternoon game even though I only "like" it and am a Cubs fan -- there's also the fact a tropical storm is on the way to my house so it might be my lone pick for a while. No Willson Contreras for the Cubbies and that's big because he has been raking during an eight-game hitting streak and is also a terrific defender behind the plate in terms of throwing out potential base-stealers. Shortstop Nico Hoerner also is sitting. Chicago used a couple of its top relievers in Thursday's victory over the Cards so they may be unavailable. Good-looking rookie Nolan Gorman (.387) is back in the lineup for St. Louis. Miles Mikolas was roughed up last time out but has a 1.54 ERA in four road starts.

L.A. ANGELS @ PHILADELPHIA | 06/03 | 7:05 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -125
ANALYSIS: The Phillies had a nice comeback win Wednesday to halt a five-game losing streak and then waited through an off day to announce the news of manager Joe Girardi's firing Friday. Pitcher Zach Eflin has been a train wreck every other start this season. He gave up seven runs in his last start. The Phillies have lost three of his last four starts, but the Angels have lost eight straight and scored just one run in each of the last three. Look for the Phillies step up and fight hard Friday.

CLEVELAND @ BALTIMORE | 06/03 | 7:05 PM EDT
CLEVELAND -150
ANALYSIS: It hasn’t been all that easy for Shane Bieber this season (Cleveland is 5-4 when he starts), but those struggles are what makes him great value now. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. His last three starts have been brilliant. The Guardians are on a three-game win streak. Cleveland wins again.

Phillies -125 over Angels
Efflin/Silseth
The Phillies fired Joe Girardi as manager today. In most cases, a team would tailspin, but I think it will be a spark for this club. Chase Silseth is a young pitcher for the Angels and has not shown enough in the big leagues for me to back him yet. Tonight’s game is a motivational home game for Philly. Take the Phillies.

CLEVELAND @ BALTIMORE | 06/03 | 7:05 PM EDT
CLEVELAND -150
ANALYSIS: While Cleveland was off yesterday, the Orioles lost at home to the Mariners and used pretty much every high-leverage reliever they have -- no way closer Jorge Lopez can be available after pitching 2.1 innings. The Birds probably will need relievers today behind struggling Bruce Zimmermann, who has allowed 15 runs over his past three. The Guards' Shane Bieber is starting to resemble his 2020 Cy Young self as he has been dominant three starts in a row and has a 2.17 road ERA. The price is about the limit of what I'd pay for Cleveland in a road game ...

SAN FRANCISCO @ MIAMI | 06/03 | 6:40 PM EDT
MIAMI +1.5
ANALYSIS: Gonna take a shot on the Marlins runline at just -125 as SF starter Alex Cobb has been scratched and John Brebbia takes his place. He'll be a glorified opener. Cobb hasn't had the best of seasons, but I still think this is a downgrade for the Giants, who are also quite banged up in their lineup. Miami's Elieser Hernandez has been much better at home (although still a 4.50 ERA). Update: The Marlins are using an opener too now ahead of Hernandez, but I'm OK with this. Simply a good RL price on the home team is all this is. Can't imagine there will be more than 500 people there with the tropical storm. Haven't heard any postponement talk yet, though.

L.A. ANGELS @ PHILADELPHIA | 06/03 | 7:05 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -123
ANALYSIS: This pick takes us into Curse mode, but being honest I was ready to play this early this morning yet wanted to wait until Bryce Harper was officially in the lineup and he is ... I'm not sure the fact Manager Joe Girardi was fired means a whole heck of a lot. Sometimes there's an "interim coach/manager" kick immediately, though. Phils pitcher Zach Eflin has a 1.57 ERA in three home starts. Philadelphia also was off Wednesday, while the free-falling Angels had to play a doubleheader at the Yankees (they lost both, but we won on both) and then travel with a thinned-out bullpen. Philadelphia absolutely SHOULD win this game, but as Phils backers like SportsLine superfan Robert S. know, the Phillies usually lose when they shouldn't and win when they shouldn't.

N.Y. METS @ L.A. DODGERS | 06/03 | 10:10 PM EDT
L.A. DODGERS -155
ANALYSIS: On Thursday, the Dodgers erased the memories of being swept at home by the Pirates by gaining a Game 1 series victory over the Mets. They still mustered just two runs on eight hits, but the win should change things for the better Friday. Mets pitcher Chris Bassitt has seen an uptick in walks and hits over his last several starts. Take the Dodgers to capitalize and get the victory.

WASHINGTON @ CINCINNATI | 06/03 | 6:40 PM EDT
CINCINNATI -135
ANALYSIS: On Friday, Mike Minor will make his debut for the Cincinnati Reds. Assuredly, he will have a shortened outing with a targeted pitch count. This can be a scary proposition for Reds backers, considering the Royals lost in Minor’s last seven starts last year. Still, Cincinnati has been much better at the plate and has won five of its last six at home. Back the Reds.
