Matz (14-7, 3.82 ERA with the Blue Jays last year) dominated in his final tuneup, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings vs. the Marlins. He'll benefit from a St. Louis lineup led by Nolan Arenado (2.042 OPS), Arenado is one of five Cardinals with an OPS over 1.000. The Pirates are giving 24-year-old Bryse Wilson a shot at a rotation spot, but he didn't wow anyone in the spring with a 6.94 ERA. Current Cardinals are 11 for 25 (.440) against Wilson. Back St. Louis -1.5 runs at -102.

ANALYSIS: I think the White Sox are a little overvalued on the road here, they were an under .500 team on the road last season at just 40-41. The Tigers were 42-39 at home last season. Michael Kopech has elite stuff but he has yet to be stretched out as a Major League starter and he has command issues. Tarik Skubal pitched well in his first two starts against the lefty crushing White Sox last season, and he actually doesn’t have a ton of trouble with righties like we would expect a lefty to have. Tim Anderson is back in the lineup for the White Sox but Yasmani Grandal is out. The Tigers just swapped Victor Reyes for Akil Baddoo which is an improvement after watching his ABs yesterday. Take the value on the Tigers at home.

ANALYSIS: Astros sat Alex Bregman last night and Yuli Gurriel was placed on the paternity list, and they still only lost 2-0. All the Angels top bullpen arms pitched while all the Astros top bullpen arms were able to rest as well. Bregman should be back in the lineup today, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Angels rest one of their top guys as well. Astros are 15-7 against the Angels since the start of last season and they were the fourth best team in the league in wOBA against lefties last season. Jose Suarez actually faced the Astros twice last season and pitched well both times, however I think if the Astros keep it close they will win it in the bullpens.

ANALYSIS: The Cubs are giving a lot of their regulars the day off, including Wilson Contreras, Frank Schwindel and Patrick Wisdom. Marcus Stroman is making his debut, and I think he will be very good for the Cubs this season, however the Brewers should get a breath of fresh air avoiding a lefty today. The Brewers were the second best team in the league on the road last season, and they were 8-2 at Wrigley Field. Take the value on the Brewers on the road to avoid the sweep.

ANALYSIS: The Yankees are looking to sweep the Red Sox to start the season and that immediately makes me want to pick against it. Both teams are coming off playoff seasons and have playoff aspirations this year. They've played two competitive games and it just seems the natural flow of baseball means things will take care of themselves and avoid a sweep here. The Red Sox send talented youngster Tanner Houck to the mound and he's had good success in his limited time against the Yankees so far. DJ LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, Joey Gallo, Aaron Hicks and Aaron Judge are a combined 1 for 27 against him. The other regulars have never seen him and that's generally always a pitcher's advantage. On the other side, Xander Bogaerts (12 for 26) has killed Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery and Rafael Devers is 5 for 20 (a modest .250), but there's a double and home run in there. Houck is better in general, the Red Sox need this one more and things tend to try and even themselves out in baseball. Take the underdog odds on the Red Sox for Sunday night.

And the Pale Hose also get All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson back from suspension. As I stated when taking Detroit +1.5 twice this weekend, the Sox were about a .500 team without him in 2021 but 23 games over with.

ANALYSIS: I have to bet one game on the final day of the regular season. Feed the beast. Portland is utter garbage but I don't know why Utah would care much here. I would guess Coach Quin Snyder rests some guys and even if not, I think JV Portland can hang within two TDs and a field goal at home.
