L.A. ANGELS @ HOUSTON | 07/03 | 2:10 PM EDT
L.A. ANGELS +1.5
ANALYSIS: With Astros starter Framber Valdez on one side and Jose Suarez on the other for L.A., this should be a tight one. Valdez pitched well in his last start against the Mets but had allowed at least two runs in four straight before that. Suarez has allowed eight runs over his past four starts. The Angels have won three of the eight meetings this season, and they are 4-4 in Suarez starts this season. The SportsLine Projection Model has the Angels covering in 64 percent of its simulations.

Gallen/Kuhl
Friday night, the total went over by a half run; last night, it sailed past the number. I think the scoring comes back to life with Zac Gallen and Chad Kuhl. On the mound as starting pitchers. The weather will be hot, but not humid. There might be some rain but no wind to help the bats. Coors Field is a hitter’s park, but the conditions are suitable for a low-scoring game. Take the Under.

Sunday MLB Sharp Report
1:37 p.m. ET: Tampa Bay Rays (42-36) at Toronto Blue Jays (44-35)
These AL East rivals have split the first four games of this rare five-game series, with the Jays taking the first two games and the Rays bouncing back with a pair of wins on Friday and Saturday. In this afternoon's series finale, Tampa Bay hands the ball to righty Shane Baz (0-1, 3.38 ERA) and Toronto counters with fellow righty Ross Stripling (4-2, 3.12 ERA). This line opened with the Jays listed as a -125 home favorite and the Rays a +110 road dog. Sharps have laid the short chalk with Toronto, steaming the Jays up from -125 to -135. Toronto is 36-25 as a favorite, 25-17 at home and 37-27 against righties. The Jays hold a sizable edge at the plate, hitting .258 while the Rays sit at .234. Stripling has been fantastic in the month of June, sporting a minuscule 1.59 ERA. Toronto went 5-1 in Stripling's six June starts.
1:40 p.m. ET: New York Yankees (58-21) at Cleveland Guardians (39-36)
The Yankees have taken the first two games of this series, sweeping yesterday's doubleheader 13-4 as -290 road favorites and then winning again 6-1 as -188 road favorites. In this afternoon's series finale, New York starts lefty Jordan Montgomery (3-1, 3.27 ERA) and Cleveland taps righty Triston McKenzie (4-6, 4.03 ERA). This line opened with the Yankees listed as a -155 road favorite and the Guardians a +140 home dog. Pros seem to be thinking "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and have steamed the Yankees up from -155 to -165. Non-division road favorites are 147-78 (65%) this season. New York is 54-20 as a favorite, 24-12 on the road and 39-14 against righties. The Yankees are 5-0 against the Guardians this season. New York also has correlative betting value as a favorite in a low total game (8).
2:10 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Angels (37-43) at Houston Astros (50-27)
The Astros have dominated the first two games of this AL West series, winning the opener 8-1 as -175 home favorites and then winning again on Saturday 9-1 as -167 home favorites. In this afternoon's series finale, Los Angeles taps lefty Jose Suarez (1-2, 4.36 ERA) and Houston sends out fellow southpaw Framber Valdez (8-3, 2.65 ERA). This line opened with the Astros listed as a -200 home favorite and the Angels a +185 road dog. Sharps are banking on Houston to complete the sweep, driving the Astros up from -200 to -220. Home favorites -200 or more are 118-45 (72%) this season. Favorites who made the playoffs last season against opponents who did not are 308-162 (66%).The Angels are just 5-20 as a dog this season. Meanwhile, the Astros are 43-18 as a favorite, 15-8 against lefties and 23-11 at home. Houston leads the season series 6-3. The Astros are 8-2 in Valdez's last ten starts.

BALTIMORE @ MINNESOTA | 07/03 | 2:10 PM EDT
BALTIMORE 140
ANALYSIS: The Orioles should be going for a sweep at Minnesota, but instead, they’re trying to avoid being swept after back-to-back heartbreaking, one-run losses. They suffered a bullpen malfunction, something on which a young team needs to. But it’s Tyler Wells' turn in the rotation, and Baltimore has won his last five starts and scored lots of runs for him. The bats wake up for Wells, who has allowed just two runs over his last three turns. Take the Orioles to win.
CHI. WHITE SOX @ SAN FRANCISCO | 07/03 | 4:05 PM EDT
CHI. WHITE SOX 105
ANALYSIS: The White Sox have gone 4-9 behind Lucas Giolito this season for -6.90 units of betting. They have lost his last four starts and five of his last six, allowing 29 runs and nine homers in that span. But something changed in his last outing as he gave up only two runs against the Los Angeles Angels, showed control, struck out six batters and did not serve up a homer. Chicago lost, but I’m willing to bet him on what I think is his upswing as the White Sox go for the sweep against a struggling San Francisco squad. Take the White Sox to win.

Nascar
1) #1 Ross Chastain (7-1) -- There have been two road races this season, and both were won by a Trackhouse Racing driver - the first coming at COTA, where Chastain recorded his first career Cup Series victory. Last season, he was seventh while driving the No. 42 car. He was also seventh at Sonoma on June 12. He has the mindset of past great road racers in NASCAR - brash and aggressive, with great equipment on the car. In fact, the two road wins show that they've figured something out to make their cars roll in and out of the corners faster, with an edge in balance and suspension. These guys know how to build fast road-racing cars.
2) #9 Chase Elliott (9-2) -- The edge he once had in road racing the last three years is over. The NextGen car has wiped away all the secrets Hendrick Motorsports kept to themselves as they won five of seven road races last season. Elliott's only two wins last year came on road courses, including the triumph at Road America.
3) #16 A.J. Allmendinger (10-1) -- His only two Cup Series wins have come on road courses, the last occurring at Indy last season. The new car makes him even more competitive, even though the results don't show it. Allmendinger gets a confidence boost knowing that his fellow drivers understand he's one of the handful of drivers everyone is trying to beat, but also follow to see how he runs a lap so fast. He also won a 2013 Xfinity Series race at Road America.
4) #20 Christopher Bell (15-1) -- His only Cup Series win came on the Daytona Road Course last season, and he also was runner-up at Road America. But that was with the old car. Bell had the same tenacity in the new car with a third-place finish at COTA in March. He had problems all day at Sonoma last month, as all the JGR cars did, which doesn't give me too much confidence in him this week. But I think a top-five is in order. He won a 2019 Xfinity Series race at Road America.
5) #19 Martin Truex Jr. (12-1) -- Truex was the king of the road courses before Elliott took over, but I don't think the JGR team tried as hard for the right set-up to maximize speed last season, despite a series-high seven road races. He was seventh at COTA but a disappointing 26th at Sonoma, where all the JGR cars had trouble.
6) #2 Austin Cindric (15-1) -- Cindric has some major road-racing skills. It's what he did before joining NASCAR, and while in the Xfinity Series, five of his 13 career wins came on road courses. One of those came at Road America in 2020. He was runner-up at Sonoma four weeks ago for his best road finish in the Cup Series.
7) #99 Daniel Suarez (15-1) -- He dominated at Sonoma last month, leading a race-high 47 laps to win his first career Cup Series race. Trackhouse Racing has the winning set-up - two road races, two wins. You can't get any better than that. The crazy thing about him is his odds to win. Suarez should be in single digits here, but laying 15-1 odds is actually more than fair.
8) #12 Ryan Blaney (15-1) -- Blaney won at the Charlotte Roval a couple of years ago and was sixth in both road races this season. This should be a good track for him. He's still looking for his first points-paying win of the year.
9) #5 Kyle Larson (5-1) -- Larson recorded three road-course victories last year, the first three road wins of his Cup Series career. He got those Hendrick secrets that aided teammate Elliott, but now he's got the new car, which has given him trouble all season. He should be 10-1 or higher to win.
10) #8 Tyler Reddick (25-1) -- He may offer the most value among all drivers this week. He's got well set-up RCR cars on the road courses with the new car, and it's shown with both Reddick and teammate Austin Dillon. He was seventh last season at Road America and fifth at COTA in March. I've made a bet on him to win.
