Oscarxena Sports

Pittsburgh -1.10 (3 Unit Play)
Two teams that are on winning streaks converge here tonight but I am taking the home town Pirates to continue their streak tonight as Ian Snell is on the mound for the Pirates. Snell has not been pitching that great recently but I like his chances tonight as the Braves are the worst road team in the major leagues going only 4-11 thus far this year. Glavine is still working his way back from his first stint on the DL and the Pirates have been surprising a lot of people this year. Take Pittsburgh at home in Game 1 of this series.

Chicago White Sox +1.09 (3 Unit Play)
The Mariners are in a big funk right now as they have now been shut out for 22 consecutive innings and have been shut out two games in a row and that was versus the Texas pitching staff. Their frustrations boiled over last night as Sexson attacked the mound and he received a 6 game suspension but he will be available this evening as he is appealing the suspension. I don't think it matters who is in the lineup as the Mariners just can't hit right now and Contreras for the White Sox has been pitching pretty well this season going at least into the seventh inning in five straight starts but has not been able to come away with a victory. Silva for the Mariners has struggled mightily against the White Sox in his career as he is 4-9 with a 5.55 ERA against them and he was beaten up in his last start. The White Sox are not a great road team but they look good to me in this spot tonight.

Philadelphia/Pittsburgh Over 5 1/2 -1.13 (3 Unit Play)
This series is going to be a war as these two teams met eight times during the regular season and are obviously located in the same state and they just don't like each other. The Flyers are my team and I hope they emerge victorious but they received some very bad news yesterday as their top defenseman Timmonen may miss this entire series with a blood clot in his ankle. Invariably someone will step up and take his place but it is a big loss either way. Both teams have very good offensive teams and although the goaltenders for both sides have been performing very well in the playoffs thus far I think we will see some goals in this series. During the regular season the Over went 5-2-1 and I see no reason not to ride that trend in Game 1 where the teams don't have a chance to make adjustments until after the game is over. Look for a high scoring game tonight.
