BASEBALL LOCKS FOR FRIDAY

Pirates +130 over Pelfrey and the Mets in the opener of their series at PNC--The Bucs might be in their heads after that comeback win at Shea last Monday

Cards -105 at Cincy--Thompson over Arroyo in the Queen City--I just think St.Louis is better right now than the Reds anyway you look at it

Josh Johnson +120 over the Cubs and Zambrano--It would clearly be an upset, but Johnson has been looking great and it just looks too automatic taking Chicago

Atlanta -130 and Jurrjens over San Fran and Matt Cain at Turner Field--the Giants are tanking

ChiSox -120 at Oakland--Gavin Floyd deals on the A's and gets it done out West, where chicks come with scripts and fake breasts

Minnesota -200 and Liriano easily over Seattle and Carlos Silva, who's had a nightmare season for the M's

Texas -110 over Tampa and Matt Garza in Arlington--the Rays have been on the road and are starting to see the problems arise without Longoria and Crawford in the lineup

Pettitte and the Bombers -185 over Kansas City--The Yanks always get healthy when they face the Royals in the Bronx

Cliff Lee -135 over the Angels and Jared Weaver in Cleveland--Lee simply doesn't lose to anybody

FRIDAY'S LONE NFL PRE-SEASON GAME

TENNESSEE -4 to Raiders--I'm on the Titans because I think Oakland blows and the Titans can do it all--run, pass and play defense and special teams like a bitch--TAKE THE OVER 34

BASEBALL FREE B's FOR FRIDAY

Paul Byrd +105 and the Red Sox over Halladay and the Jays at Fenway--Byrd has been spectacular since the break and that's why Boston got him

Nate Robertson and the Tigers -145 over the Orioles at Comerica in the Motor City

Milwaukee +120 in Lipstick City over the Dodgers and Chad Billingsley--LA was lucky with all the walk-offs against Philly, but the red hot Brewers won't be as easy for them

Philly -120 and Jamie Moyer over Greg Maddux and the hapless Padres at Petco--Phils get back on the winning track in SD this weekend

Arizona -140 and Brandon Webb finally cool off the smokin Astros and Wandy Rodriguez at Minute Maid

Angels @ Indians
Play: Indians -135

The Indians are having one awful campaign, but you wouldn't know it by the way they play when Cliff Lee pitches. The concentration level seems to go up, they hit a little and play good defense behind Lee. And, of course, Lee himself has been utterly sensational, which is why he's the Cy Young favorite in the AL despite pitching for a horrible team. Peralta might miss this game for the Tribe after having to leave early Thursday night with a hand injury, but I still like the Indians to get to a very shaky Jered Weaver and I'm going with Cleveland to come out on top.

Play On: Toronto

The Blue Jays battle the Bosox at Fenway Park Friday night when Roy Halladay takes on newly acquired Paul Byrd. Halladay has been a horse on the road going 6-2 in his last eight away starts. In those efforts he compiled a terrific 9/52 walk-to-strikeout ratio. With Halladay off a 4-2 home loss in this last start - to Byrd when he was with the Indians - look for Byrd to dip to 1-4 in his last five home starts here this evening.

Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox
Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays

Jays have been playing well of late winning 8 of their last 11 overall and will have their ace in Halladay tonight who has a 1.99 era in his last 3 starts. Boston on a roll as well of late but have struggled vs Toronto losing 8 of the last 10 meetings. Play on Toronto -.

Sports Gambling Hotline

LA Angels +125 at CLEVELAND

Granted Cliff Lee is having a better season than his counterpart Jered Weaver, but you have to wonder when the 16-2 hurler is going to stumble, and tonight at home against the best team in the American League looks to be that spot.

Lee's last start at home saw him allow 6 runs in just 5 innings in a no-decison against Detroit.

The Angels do own a 38-21 record this season away from Anaheim, and Weaver is about due for a quality start after facing the Yankees in his last pair of starts.

The Halos have won 4 of the first 6 season series meetings, and while Lee has baffled them in the past, we expect LA to get just enough tonight for the win.

The Angels were idle yesterday, while the Tribe were hooked in a tight one with the Orioles last evening.

Expect the Cleveland sticks to be dragging just a little after 7 straight days on the diamond.

Play on the Angels.

Karl Garrett

Kansas City at NY YANKEES

Even though both starters sport ERA's in the 4's, the G-Man is going to play tonight's Royals-Yankees game UNDER the posted total.

These teams have already played 7 times this year, and 5 of the 7 have stayed LOW.

The Yanks have played UNDER the total in 3 of their last 4, and 5 of their last 8, and starter Andy Pettitte's starts at home have gone UNDER 8 of the 12 times he has toed the rubber in the Bronx.

As for Kansas City starter Gil Meche, 6 of his 10 road starts this year have stayed UNDER the posted price.

New York comes back home after a disasterous 3-7 road trip, and it looks to the G-Man that they are pressing at the plate.

Banking on the series trends to hold true tonight, and playing this Kansas City-New York game to go UNDER the posted total.

Selection: Los Angeles Dodgers -140

Reason: Put us down on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-140) for our Free MLB Selection on Friday. Today the Milwaukee Brewers will be on the road as they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. We will side with the Los Angeles Dodgers! One reason why we will side with the Los Angeles Dodgers is because they will be sending to the mound the much better starting pitcher. This says it all... The Milwaukee Brewers Starting Pitcher (Manny Parra) has a 5.89 ERA in his last 3 starts, while the Los Angeles Dodgers Starting Pitcher (Chad Billingsley) has a 1.80 ERA in his last 3 starts. As you can see, the Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher has been pitching a lot better as of late. The Los Angeles Dodgers are 41-20 in their last 61 meetings against the Milwaukee Brewers, and should be able to get another win tonight! Take the Los Angeles Dodgers!

San Francisco at ATLANTA -140

We’re banking on a revenge pitching clash in this one, as Jair Jurrjens will get even for an August 4 loss to the Giants and Matt Cain. The right-handed Brave lost his quality start that day, despite pitching well enough to win by scattering nine hits and giving up three earned runs over six innings.

Nevertheless, he got the loss and will be out for retribution tonight. He should get plenty of help from his comrades, as Matt Cain will struggle at Turner Field tonight, mark my words.

Dwayne Bryant

Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins
Play: Minnesota Twins -1.5

Seattle starter Carlos Silva owns an 8.40 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and .403 OOBP in his last three starts. Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano has only allowed three earned runs in 11.2 innings since returning to the rotation. Liriano owns a 2.45 ERA in two home starts, while Silva sports a 5.79 ERA in 13 road starts this season. Minnesota's bullpen owns a 2.27 ERA at home, while Seattle's pen sports a 4.64 ERA on the road.

The Mariners are 3-12 in Silva's last 15 starts, 0-6 in Silva's last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record and 0-5 in Silva's last 5 starts during game 1 of a series. The Twins are 12-2 in their last 14 games following an off day, 5-1 in their last 6 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and 9-2 in Liriano's last 11 starts when their opponent scored 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Take Minnesota on the run line.

TOR Blue Jays and BOS Red Sox
Take Under

A pair of pitchers on the mound who know how to throw strikes. Toronto ace Roy Halladay is a workhorse with 13 wins. He has a 1.99 ERA his last three starts and has walked just 31 in 182 innings. The Blue Jays have not gone over the total in this last 4 starts. New Boston pitcher Paul Byrd is even better with his control, walking 24 batters in 131 innings. He's also hot, with a 1.14 ERA his last three starts and a 3-0 record. Byrd is 4-0 under the total his last 4 starts. Look for a fast game with little scoring, play the Blue Jays/Red Sox under the total!
