Giant Value
By Brobury Sports

The San Francisco Giants are a big +900 underdog to win the NL Pennant despite the fact they’re the current Wild Card team.

We are at the All-Star break and BroburySports.com has updated all of its MLB Future Odds as we make a playoff push towards October. Sign-up now and get a 20% Reload Bonus for your second half wagering.

NL Pennant Odds Favorites

Los Angeles Dodgers +200
Philadelphia Phillies +400
St. Louis Cardinals +400
Chicago Cubs +600
New York Mets +800
San Francisco Giants +900
Atlanta Braves +1000
Florida Marlins +1100

San Francisco is 49-39 after losing their final game of the first half to San Diego. The Giants have the second best record in the NL after the Dodgers and a two-game lead over Colorado for the Wild Card. They’ve also been hot since June 1st, going 24-15 overall.

The reason for optimism surrounding the Giants is their pitching. They have the best ERA in all of baseball by having a solid starting staff and relief corps.

Everyone knows about 25 year-old Tim Lincecum by now. The All-Star game starter has a 10-2 record with a 2.33 ERA and is truly an elite pitcher. He joins 24 year-old Matt Cain (10-2, 2.38 ERA) to form the best one-two punch in the NL.

In addition, 26 year-old Jonathan Sanchez just threw a no-hitter and that should do wonders for his confidence after recently being reinserted as a starter.

Throw in wily veterans Randy Johnson and Barry Zito and you have a pitching staff that no one wants to face in the playoffs, especially in a short first round series.

Where the Giants need to make a move is in their lineup. That wouldn’t be necessary if San Francisco closed the deal with Manny Ramirez in the off-season, as they might have been the favorite in the NL.

The Giants currently rank 12th in the NL in runs scored although they’ve been more productive of late. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval is having a sensational year but they are reportedly interested in additional infielders, like second baseman Freddy Sanchez and first basemen Nick Johnson and Aubrey Huff.

The addition of any one of those players could put San Fran over the top and provide a big payout for their future wagers.
