Those pages search for new data every 1 minute. If there is a new update it pushes it out to the page. If there is nothing it searches again in another minute and so forth.
I've never personally checked how far behind the scores are but it's definitely not a half hour unless there is something wrong with the raw feed. I would just guess though the delay is probably 1-3 minutes from what is actually happening.
Those pages were never really intended to offer real-time scores because it's just far too expensive to purchase live feeds for all sports. They are meant to be more of a tool for bettors to quickly see who is covering, if the game is going over or under and who the public liked and if they were right or wrong.
Nobody is ever going to come here and not go to ESPN or MLB, etc to get scores so the investment to get real-time scores just isn't worth it. When you run a site like this it's just like betting, you gotta find value and put your money into what is going to show you returns and save your money in other areas where the competition is so great you'd never be able to break through.
