December 10th, 2007
Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals and catcher Paul Lo Duca agreed to a one-year deal on Monday, pending completion of a physical.
Lo Duca spent the last two years with the New York Mets. In 2007, he hit .272 with nine home runs and 54 RBI in 445 at-bats. Lo Duca broke into the majors in 1998 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and has also played with the Florida Marlins. For his career, he has a .288 average, 80 home runs, and 466 RBI.
The 35-year-old Lo Duca is also the second Mets player to head to Washington in the past few weeks. On November 30, the Nationals acquired outfielder Lastings Milledge in exchange for catcher Brian Schneider and outfielder Ryan Church.
