Texas at Detroit

The meeting between Detoit and Texas at Comerica Park Friday night looks to be a pitcher's duel as Tigers' Jordan Zimmermann will match pitches with Rangers’ Cole Hamels.

Righthander Zimmermann has been light's out for his new club recording a 5-0 record with a miniscule 0.55 ERA. In his last outing, he allowed one run over seven innings striking out seven and did not walk a batter. Zimmermann who has never faced Rangers in his career brings a solid 11-5 May Team Start Record to the rubber.

On the other mound, lefty Hamels off a shaky start allowing 4 runs over 5 innings tagged with a no-decision heads to the hill 3-0 in five starts with a 3.30 ERA. Hamels is 10-2 since joining Texas last August with Rangers 15-4 in his nineteen starts. Hamels 2-1 career vs Tigers carries a 5-11 May Team Start Record into the contest.

When handicapping this contest a few additional betting nuggets to ponder. Rangers are 6-2 last eight in Tigers backyard, 6-3 opening a new series. Also, the fact Hamels is a portsider could be bad news for Detroit, since Tigers are just 1-4 against lefthanders this season.
