Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles

Runs will be at a premium in Mondays' season opener between Baltimore Orioles and division rival Toronto Blue Jays at Camden Yards.

Kevin Gausman toes the rubber for Orioles. The right-hander went 9-12 in 2016 with a 14-16 Team Start Record including 8-4 at home. Orioles w/Gausman had a habit of keeping the score low in home starts last year posting 3 'Over', 9 'Under' and the hurler heads to the hill 1-7 O/U last eight in front of the home audience, 2-6-1 O/U opening a home series. Orioles were 0-3 vs Jays w/Gausman in 2016 playing 'Under' twice.

Gausman matches pitches with Marco Estrada who went 10-10 in 2016 with Jays winning 16 of his 31 starts including 9-7 in an opposing park. The 'Under' has also been the correct betting option when Jays handed the ball to Estrada, as they went 12-19 O/U in his starts including 3-7 O/U opening a road series. Jays were 3-1 vs Orioles w/Estrada in 2016 (1-3 O/U) and currently own a 6-1 stretch vs Baltimore with the hurler (3-4 O/U).

Given the hurler's strong tendancy towards 'Under' and the fact the series has played below posted totals in seven straight, the numbers point to 'Under' being the correct choice. Another factor to take into account. Orioles kept 'Under' gamblers happy last April going 2-7-2 O/U in front of the home audience. Even more eye-popping, the Blue Jays were 1-11-1 O/U in an opposing park during the first month of play last year.

According to current betting odds at BetOnline.ag, the run total for this contest has opened at 8.5.
