Minnesota at Houston

One team comes home and the other hits the road as the Houston Astros return to Minute Maid Park Monday night to host Minnesota Twins. According to opening odds at BetOnline.ag the Astros are -$1.80 home favorites with the total set at 8 runs.

Houston will send out southpaw Dallas Keuchel, carrying a 2-3 record, 4.41 ERA. However, looking at home and away splits is illuminating, since it shows that Keuchel has faltered on the road (1-3) this season but tossed an 8 inning no run gem in a win over Tigers in his lone home start. Looking back, history shows Keuchel loves pitching in front of the friendly crowd at Minute Maid Park. In the lefthanders last nineteen starts in this venue he is 17-0 with Astros 17-2 in those games. The dominance is reflected by the fact he's allowed an average 1.4 runs/game over the span with a 148-32 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Minnesota will counter with rookie righthander Jose Berrios who is 0-1 in his lone career start saddled with a 11.25 ERA. Adding to the pitching mismatch Minnesota must contend with, the Twins must also try to solve issues away from Target Field. In the eleven played in unfriendly territory this season the Twins are 1-10.
