Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Indians

Cleveland Indians still in the hunt to lock up a postseason berth have conditions on their side when they open this mini two game set against basement dwelling White Sox. Cleveland is sending Ubaldo Jimenez to the mound carrying a 3-0 mark this month over four starts (4-0 TSR) and the Indians have owned Pale Hose this season taking 15-of-17 encounters including 6-1 at Progressive Field. Little wonder Indians have opened a whopping $2.50 favorite. However, laying heavy lumber can be a bankroll-busting proposition. Just because a team is heavily favored does not mean the club will win each game. Ace pitchers can have an off day, relievers implode, hitters slump and/or costly errors are made. Over the season these high-priced favorites (-$2.40 to -$3.00) are 45-25 but have still left backers with a -$2,073 hole in betting accounts. As you see, despite the big price, these favorites are anything but a sure thing. The smart play here is to take Tribe and the run line (-1.5, -$1.15).
