Ryan Dempster, Texas Rangers (9-6, 2.87)
Dempster allowed one run over six innings of a 5-3 win over Cleveland on Friday night. The right-hander has picked up wins in three consecutive starts with a 1.35 ERA over that stretch. He takes on the Royals in Kansas City next.
Clayton Richard, San Diego Padres (12-12, 3.74)
Richard gave up three runs over 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win against the Rockies on Friday. August was a stellar month for the lefty, who went 5-1 with a 2.44 ERA over 44 2/3 innings. He takes the bump in Los Angeles against the Dodgers in his next outing.
SLUMPING
Madison Bumgarner, San Francisco Giants (14-9, 3.07)
Bumgarner lasted just four innings, surrendering four runs in Friday’s loss to the Cubs. The left-hander has taken back-to-back losses for the first time since late May and will try to turn things around against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Aaron Cook, Boston Red Sox (3-8, 5.35)
Cook was lit up for six runs on seven hits over just 2 2/3 innings against the A's on Friday. The righty is now 0-3 with a 7.11 ERA over his last four starts. He takes the mound at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field against the Mariners next.
