Preview: Rockies at Giants
Gracenote
Jun 27, 2018

Madison Bumgarner flashed his patented stellar form in his last start and looks to follow up with another solid effort when the San Francisco Giants host the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Bumgarner scattered three hits over eight scoreless innings to defeat San Diego on Thursday for his first win of the season.

Bumgarner missed the first two-plus months of the campaign after breaking his left pinkie finger during spring training and is one strikeout shy of 1,500 for his career. He will be looking to help the Giants post their fourth straight win and seventh in eight games after Tuesday's series-opening 3-2 triumph. Colorado has lost three straight, scoring just nine runs during the brief slide. Nolan Arenado was hitless in three at-bats in the opener after registering five homers and 13 RBIs over his previous six games.

Freeland is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts against the Giants this season and 4-2 with a 3.15 ERA in six career meetings.

Bumgarner served up three homers over his previous two starts before striking out a season-best eight batters during his dominant performance against San Diego. The 28-year-old is a solid 12-7 with a 3.05 ERA in 26 career starts against the Rockies, winning seven of nine decisions at AT&T Park. Bumgarner has struggled with Carlos Gonzalez (19-for-59, five homers) but has shut down Gerardo Parra (2-for-19).
