Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees (Tuesday, 7:05 p.m. Eastern)

Dusting off Boston 4-0 leaves the Yankees with the best record in the majors at 69-42 and 5.37 units in the black. That’s seven consecutive wins for New York, including a pair against the Jays (53-57, -9.71 units), who are 11-23 in their last 34 games and 1-8 in their last eight versus the Yankees. Joba Chamberlain (3.73 ERA) has gone to the pay window in seven of his past eight starts. Scott Richmond (3.97 ERA) gave up four runs in three innings to Oakland on July 31, his first start since coming off the DL with a shoulder injury.

Chicago White Sox at Seattle Mariners (Wednesday, 10:10 p.m. ET)

The White Sox (57-55, 2.72 units) are three games behind Detroit in the AL Central and starting to get desperate after dropping two of three at home to the stripped-down Cleveland Indians. Seattle (58-53, 6.65 units) made a number of smart deals around the deadline and came alive at the plate in back-to-back series wins over Kansas City and Tampa Bay. The over cashed in all six games. Scoring those runs will be considerably more difficult on Wednesday night with Mark Buehrle (3.89 ERA) and Felix Hernandez (2.84 ERA) on the mound.

Houston Astros at Florida Marlins (Thursday, 7:10 p.m. ET, MLBN)

The Astros were one of the hottest teams going last month, but they’ve gone 5-10 in their last 15 to slip back below .500 at 55-56 (1.54 units). That’ll be forgotten once hotshot rookie Bud Norris (1.69 ERA) takes the hill. His first two starts generated two wins for Houston supporters, yielding two runs on five hits in 13 innings of work. Ricky Nolasco (4.86 ERA) replies for the Marlins, fresh off a three-game sweep of the Phillies to improve to 58-53 (6.80 units), four games back of the defending World Champions in the NL East race.
