They were coming off sweeping the Yankees last weekend at home and suffered a letdown. The Yankees came back to beat Minnesota four straight games, a team they've dominated over the years. Baltimore sends right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (6-3, 3.77 ERA) to the mound, who has been one of Baltimore's best pitchers. He struck out nine vs. Cleveland on June 27 in a 7-3 Orioles' win. Gonzalez owns a 2-1 career record with a 2.70 RA and a 0.98 WHIP against the Yankees. He'll face spot-starter Ivan Nova (2-2, 4.63 ERA), who is replacing Hiroki Kuroda, who is hampered by a hip flexor injury. Nova pitched well in relief on Saturday, allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings, replacing the ineffective David Phelps. The bad news for Nova is that the Orioles' bats will wake up after facing three lefties in Chicago, especially Davis, who has two home runs and six hits against Nova lifetime.
