MLB Orioles vs. Yankees Picks & Predictions for July 5, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

NEW YORK, NY (ATS Consultants) – Can the Orioles slow down the hot Yankees when the two AL East rivals battle in the Bronx at 7:05PM ET tonight?

ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Orioles are -107 money line favorites over the Yankees, who are -101 on the ML. With Miguel Gonzalez battling Ivan Nova in the pitching matchup, the over/under total is currently sitting at 9 runs.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Orioles opened as -113 money line favorites but their odds have dropped to -107, while the Yankees’ odds have fallen from +104 down to -101. Baltimore is 48-38 overall and 23-21 on the road, while New York is 46-39 overall and 23-18 at home.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 56% of the betting public currently favors Baltimore. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most updated numbers.

MLB FREE PICK: Take Baltimore. According to latest MLB trends, Baltimore is 5-0 last 5 in this series, 13-5 in Gonzalez's last 18 starts vs. American League East, 5-1 last 6 as a favorite and 8-2 in Gonzalez's last 10 starts as a favorite. The Yankees are 2-8 last 10 with a total set at 9.0-10.5 and 0-5 in Nova's last 5 starts as an underdog.

Baltimore allowed just 10 runs in three games at the White Sox but lost two of three games. They ended up facing three left-handers which appears to be an a minor issue right now against their lineup, which features Chris "Smash" Davis, who leads baseball with 32 home runs. They were coming off sweeping the Yankees last weekend at home and suffered a letdown. The Yankees came back to beat Minnesota four straight games, a team they've dominated over the years. Baltimore sends right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (6-3, 3.77 ERA) to the mound, who has been one of Baltimore's best pitchers. He struck out nine vs. Cleveland on June 27 in a 7-3 Orioles' win. Gonzalez owns a 2-1 career record with a 2.70 RA and a 0.98 WHIP against the Yankees. He'll face spot-starter Ivan Nova (2-2, 4.63 ERA), who is replacing Hiroki Kuroda, who is hampered by a hip flexor injury. Nova pitched well in relief on Saturday, allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings, replacing the ineffective David Phelps. The bad news for Nova is that the Orioles' bats will wake up after facing three lefties in Chicago, especially Davis, who has two home runs and six hits against Nova lifetime.
