MLB Phillies vs. Cardinals Picks & Predictions for July 25, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

ST. LOUIS, MO (ATS Consultants) – The Cardinals will go for the sweep tonight against the Phillies but Lance Lynn has been struggling recently. Will St. Louis pick up yet another victory tonight at 7:15PM ET in what could be a low-scoring game?

ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are -178 money line favorites over the Phillies, who are +164 on the ML. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 7.5 runs with Kyle Kendrick set to face Lynn in the pitching matchup.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Cardinals opened as -170 money line favorites but their odds have jumped to -178, while the Phillies’ odds have gone from +156 up to +164. Philadelphia is currently 49-52 on the year and 23-31 on the road, while St. Louis is 61-37 overall and 31-17 at home.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 62% of the betting public currently favors St. Louis. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most updated numbers.

MLB FREE PICK: Take the under. According to latest MLB trends, Philadelphia is: 5-11 under in Kendrick's last 16 starts and 1-5 under last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. St. Louis, meanwhile, is 5-11 under 16 at home with the total set at 7.0 to 8.5 and 0-4 under in Lynn's last four Thursday starts.

Kendrick (9-6, 3.94 ERA) has won two straight starts and is 5-1 with a 2.72 ERA against St. Louis in his career. Lynn (11-5, 4.13 ERA) has struggled lately as well, giving up 10 runs in his last two starts. But he has pitched well against the Phillies, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts. He threw seven scoreless innings against the Phillies on April 20 in a 5-0 St. Louis win. The Phillies are eight games behind Atlanta for first place in the NL East. It might be time to sell as injuries to Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown have made them punchless. Brown leads the Phils with 24 home runs and 69 RBIs. Philadelphia is scoring just 3.85 runs per game against right-handed pitching and has scored just four runs over their last three games. They do send Kendrick to the mound, who is coming off one of his worst outings of the season. He pitched well against the Cardinals, including allowing two runs over six innings in a no-decision on April 21. This one is going under the total.
