MLB Picks and Predictions for Thursday
Our team of writers and handicappers hand out their MLB picks and predictions for Thursday, May 7.
San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies, 3:10PM ET
No matter what uniform he's wearing, Jason Marquis usually pitches well against the San Francisco Giants.
Looking to continue his strong start for the Colorado Rockies, the right-hander tries for a second straight victory over the Giants in the finale of a two-game series Thursday at Coors Field.
Marquis (4-1, 3.31 ERA) allowed a run and five hits in a 5-1 victory at San Francisco on Saturday for his first complete game since May 9, 2007, against Pittsburgh while with the Chicago Cubs.
That performance improved Marquis to 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA in seven starts against the Giants and continued his success with the Rockies (11-15), who acquired him in a trade with the Cubs in January.
Marquis certainly feels at home with this fourth team in 10 major-league seasons.

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox, 8:11PM ET
Mark Buehrle has won at least 10 games in each of his eight previous seasons for the Chicago White Sox. Despite that run, he's never won his first five decisions in any of those years.
After Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers was rained out, Buehrle will look to accomplish that feat Thursday night while trying to help the White Sox avoid a fifth consecutive loss in this abbreviated one-game series at U.S. Cellular Field.
Buehrle (4-0, 3.30 ERA) was originally scheduled to take the mound Wednesday, but the game was postponed because of rain. The game was called after a delay of 1 hour, 13 minutes. A makeup date wasn't announced.
Buehrle, who has won both of his starts on five days rest this season, allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings of a 4-3 win at Texas on Friday for his fourth consecutive victory. The left-hander didn't factor in Chicago's 4-2 season-opening victory over Kansas City.

Washington Nationals at Los Angeles Dodgers, 10:10PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to quite a start, but manager Joe Torre doesn't want his team to get caught up with numbers.
The surging Dodgers look for an eighth straight victory while trying to extend their modern major-league record home winning streak to start a season Thursday night in the finale of a two-game set with the lowly Washington Nationals.
Los Angeles (21-8) beat Washington 10-3 on Wednesday for its 13th straight home win to open a season and surpass the 12-0 record of the 1911 Detroit Tigers.
The Dodgers own the best record in the majors to match their best start since the 1977 club opened 23-6 and won the NL pennant. The 1983 Dodgers also started 21-8.
