MLB Picks & Predictions: Braves vs. Phillies, Tuesday, September 6, 2011
By Anthony Rome

(The Spread) – National League East foes will battle tonight in Philadelphia when the Phillies host the Braves at 7:05PM ET.

Odds: Oddsmakers have made the Phillies –118 money line favorites versus the visiting Braves, who are +111 on the ML. The over/under total for tonight’s game is currently 7.5 runs.

Pitching Matchup: Atlanta will send Tim Hudson to the hill to oppose Philadelphia’s Vance Worley. Hudson has been solid this year, posting a 14-8 record with a 3.05 ERA over 183.0 innings. Worley, meanwhile, has been even better. He enters the day with a 10-1 record and a 2.85 ERA and hasn’t taken the loss once in his last 10 starts.

Public Betting: Of the 6,100-plus wagers on tonight’s game, 69% of MLB public bettors currently favor the Phillies –118. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out the latest MLB public betting numbers by clicking on the link provided.

MLB Free Pick: Take Atlanta. According to latest MLB trends, the Braves are 4-0 in Tim Hudson’s last four starts versus the Phillies and 6-1 in his last seven starts overall. They’re also 12-4 in his last 16 starts during Game 2 of a series and 4-1in their last five games versus a team with a winning record. Worley is due to have a bad outing and drop a game. With Hudson on the mound for Atlanta, the Braves should have plenty of confidence heading into this contest with the first-place Phillies.
