MLB Rangers vs. A's Picks & Predictions for August 3, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

OAKLAND, CA (ATS Consultants) - Two teams battling for supremacy in the American League West will square off today in Oakland when the A's host the Rangers at 4:05PM ET.

ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the A's are -118 money line favorites over the Rangers, who are +109 on the ML. With Matt Garza set to face Jarrod Parker in the pitching matchup the over/under total is currently sitting at 7 runs.

LINE MOVEMENT: The A's opened as -130 money line favorites but their odds have been bet down to -118, while the Rangers' odds are now +109 after they opened at +120. Texas is 61-49 overall and 28-25 on the road, while Oakland is 63-46 overall and 34-19 at home.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 74% of the betting public currently favors Texas. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most updated numbers.

MLB FREE PICK: Take Oakland. According to latest MLB trends, Texas is 11-25 last 36 as a road dog of +110 to +150 and 0-4 last 4 road games. Oakland is: 5-1 last 6 vs. a right-handed starter and 22-8 last 30 vs. a starters with a WHIP less than 1.15.

Matt Garza (1-0, 1.88 ERA) allowed three runs in his last start against the Angels on July 29, giving up five hits with three walks. That was his second start since coming over from the Cubs. vs. Jarrod Parker (6-6, 4.07 ERA) didn't pitch well in his last start, giving up six runs at home against the Angels on July 28. But before that start, Parker was sensational, allowing just five runs in four starts. This is a big series for both teams. The Rangers moved within 3.5 games of the Athletics before the series started. But Texas could be in for some big issues if Nelson Cruz is suspended on Monday for 50 games. Cruz has 25 home runs and 75 RBI to lead Texas and has been struggling as of late, probably wondering if he should appeal. The A's are led by Brandon Moss, who has 17 home runs and 49 RBI, while Josh Donaldson and Yoenis Cespedes add 16 homers.Parker will bounce back from a bad start to get on form against a struggling Rangers' offense.

MLB FREE PICK: OAKLAND A'S -118
