MLB Rays vs. Red Sox Picks & Predictions for July 24, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

BOSTON, MA (ATS Consultants) –
American League East rivals battle tonight at Fenway Park as the Red Sox host the Rays at 7:10PM ET. Will it be a low-scoring contest?

ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Red Sox and Rays both have odds of -104 on the money line, respectively, for tonight’s game. With David Price set to face Felix Doubront, the over/under total is currently sitting at 8.5 runs.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Rays opened as -117 money line favorites but their odds have dropped down to -104 at most online sports books, while the Red Sox’ odds have gone from +108 to -104. Tampa Bay enters play with a 59-42 record and is 25-23 on the road, while Boston is 61-41 overall and 34-18 at home.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 52% of the betting public currently favors Tampa Bay. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most updated numbers.

MLB FREE PICK: Take the under. According to latest MLB trends, Tampa Bay is 0-8 last 8 Under on Wednesday, 0-6 last 6 Under vs. Boston and 8-22-2 last 32 under overall. Boston, meanwhile, is 1-9 under last 10 at home and 3-13-1 last 17 under vs. American League East.

David Price (4-5, 4.03 ERA) takes on Felix Doubront (7-3, 3.76 ERA) in a battle of very strong lefties. Price won the Cy Young Award last year and is finally regaining his form after missing a month-and-a-half with a triceps injury. He won his last start on July 19, though he did give up three home runs in Toronto (winning 8-5). Price was simply dominant in his three previous starts, allowing just three runs in those starts, including throwing two complete games. Doubront might be Boston's top starter with Clay Buchholz on the disabled list. He has allowed two runs or less in six straight starts. Price's last start before being placed on the disabled list was against Boston on May 15, as he allowed four runs in 2 1/3 innings. Before that start, he had dominated Boston, giving up just one run on April 13 (2-1 loss) and 11 runs in five starts against Boston in 2012. Doubront gave up three runs in his last two starts. Against Tampa Bay on June 18, he allowed no runs in eight innings against the Rays at Fenway Park, as Boston won 3-1. Boston also hits just .250 against left-handers as opposed to .281 against right-handers. Their best hitter is David Ortiz with a .321 average and 19 home runs. But he's a lefty who is hitting just .222 with no home runs against Price. Expect this to be another low-scoring game with two very good pitchers going at it.
