MLB Tigers vs. Rays Picks & Predictions for June 29, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (ATS Consultants) - With their ace on the hill, the Tigers will look to bury the Rays tonight when the two teams square off at 7:05PM ET.

ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are -137 money line favorites over the Rays, who are +126 on the ML. With Justin Verlander and Chris Archer on the hill, the over/under total is currently sitting at 7.5 runs.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Tigers opened as -140 money line favorites but their odds have dropped to -137, while the Rays opened at +129 and now are +126 on the ML. Detroit is 43-35 overall and 17-19 on the road, while Tampa Bay is 41-39 overall and 23-18 at home.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 78% of the betting public currently favors Detroit. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most updated numbers.

MLB FREE PICK:
Take Tampa Bay. According to latest MLB trends, Tampa Bay is 10-4 last 14 at home with a losing road record and 5-2 last 7 vs. a team with a winning record.

Justin Verlander (8-5, 3.90 ERA) has not been himself lately, allowing nine runs in his last two starts. He usually gets to the seventh inning every time, but has only worked to the fifth, after throwing over 100 pitches against Boston and Baltimore at home. Christopher Archer (2-3, 4.21 ERA) is a very talented pitcher who is finally starting to get it. He's allowed just seven runs over his last four starts. The Rays haven't supported him that well as they scored just seven run in those games.

Tampa Bay has given Verlander trouble over the years. Last year, he gave up eight runs in two appearances against the Rays. Two years ago, he allowed seven runs in two starts. The Rays are finding a rhythm on offense, as they are averaging 4.66 runs per game (8th). Part of that is due to the emergence of rookie OF Will Myers, who is hitting .268 and has two home run in 10 games since being called up from AAA. He's the prospect who the Rays acquired from the Royals in the James Shields trade. 3B Evan Longoria (.299, 17, 47) is also having a big year as he's finally healthy. Tampa Bay is a solid value here as a dog.
