MLB Tips and Trends

Cleveland Indians at LA Angels

Indians: Cleveland's Paul Byrd will look to rebound from a rough outing in which he gave up 5 runs and 8 hits in 4 1/3 innings at Oakland. Byrd did not strike out a batter and walked 2, but he is 3-1 lifetime against the Angels with a 4.47 ERA.

The OVER is 8-2 in Westbrook's last 10 Tuesday starts.
The OVER is 6-2-1 in Cleveland's last 9 road games.

Key Injuries - NONE

LA's Dustin Moseley will try to remain perfect against the Indians when he takes the mound for the second time this season. Moseley will be making his second home start after serving up 6 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings of an 11-6 loss to Texas last Friday. He is 2-0 lifetime vs. Cleveland with a 3.68 ERA.

Angels are 26-9 in Santana's last 35 home starts.
The OVER is 9-3-1 in Santana's 13 starts.

Key Injuries - NONE

Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox

Tigers: Detroit's Jeremy Bonderman is 3-4 in nine career starts against the Red Sox, although his ERA is a respectable 4.58. Bonderman wasn?t dominating in his first start of the season versus the Royals and even though he got the loss, Bonderman pitched well enough to keep the Tigers in the game, giving up four runs over 6.1 innings.

Tigers are 5-18 in the last 23 meetings at Boston.
The UNDER is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings.

Key Injuries - NONE

Red Sox (-130, O/U 9.5): Boston's Jon Lester is 1-1 on the season but he?s coming off a masterful performance against the A?s, giving up three hits and no runs in 6.2 innings of work. This will be Lester?s first ever start against Detroit but the young lefty should have success taking on a Tigers offense that has struggled mightily early in the year, scoring just 11 runs in its first five games.

Red Sox are 11-4 in their last 15 games overall.

Key Injuries - NONE

Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets

Phillies: Philadelphia's Kyle Kendrick looks to build off a solid first start of the season, as he earned a win over the Reds last Friday. Kendrick won despite giving up 4 runs and 8 hits in 5 innings thanks to solid run support. The Phillies have averared 7.2 runs in his last 5 outings.

Phillies are 9-0 in the last 9 meetings.
Phillies are 7-2 in their last 9 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - NONE

Mets (-145, O/U 9.5): New York's Mike Pelfrey makes his first start of the season and hopes to bounce back from a forgetful 2007 campaign. Pelfrey was just 3-8 last season with a 5.57 ERA, as opponents hit .298 against him. He faced the Phillies once as a starter, giving up 3 runs and 4 hits in 5 innings with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts but took the loss.

Mets are 1-10 in their last 11 home games.
The UNDER is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings at New York.

Key Injuries - NONE

San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants

Padres (-125, O/U 8.5): San Diego's Justin Germano will look to continue his history of early-season success and earn his second win of the year. Germano started the 2007 season at 5-0 before going 1-7 in his next 11 outings. He pitched 6 scoreless innings last time out against the Dodgers on Friday, allowing only 3 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Padres are 16-5 in the last 21 meetings.
The OVER is 21-5-1 in San Diego's last 27 road games.

Key Injuries - NONE

Giants: There was definitely more bad than good in Jonathan Sanchez's first start of the season, which resulted in a 13-4 loss at Milwaukee. The good news is that he struck out 8 batters in 4 innings before departing. The bad news is that he gave up 7 runs and 7 hits as well, and he now has just 1 win in the last 2 seasons combined.

Giants are 1-8 in their last 9 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - NONE
