Tips and Trends

Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians

Red Sox: Red Sox starter Jon Lester looks to bounce back from a rough outing against the Tigers in his last appearance, where he allowed 4 runs in 5+ innings against Detriot?s struggling bats. Lester said he feels like he has been making solid pitches so far this season despite his 4.50 ERA. The south-paw has only allowed just 5 earned runs over 12 innings pitched in his regular season career against the Indians.

Red Sox are 2-9 in their last 11 games as an underdog.
Key Injuries - 3B Mike Lowell (thumb) 15-day DL

PROJECTED SCORE: 6

Indians (-116, O/U 9.5): After losing 9 regular season starts in 2007 Indians starter Jake Westbrook has began his 2008 campaign strong. Westbrook is 1-1 on the young season, but has allowed just 5 earned runs over 16.1 innings pitched: including a complete game against the Angels on April 8th. The right-hander is 3-2 with a 4.81 ERA in 6 career starts against the Red Sox..

Indians are 21-7 in their last 28 home games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 7

LA Angels at Texas Rangers

Angels (-115, O/U 10.5): Angels starter Ervin Santana was one of the weak spots in the Angels rotation last year, with 14 losses. However, Santana has looked strong in both of his outings this season: 4 ER in 12 IP. Ervin Santana has said he feels very confident in the way he is throwing right now, but the last time the right-hander was in Arlington he was lit-up for 6 runs in just 5 innings.

Angels are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings.

Key Injuries - Closer Francisco Rodriguez (ankle) is available

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Rangers: After having an abbreviated 2007 season due to injuries Rangers starter Jason Jennings is off to a rocky start here in ?08. Jennings is 0-2 with a 7.45 ERA with 6 walks compared to just 2 strikeouts. While being pulled early in his most recent start he hurled a ball into the stands in frustration. The right-hander?s struggles have been finding that strike-zone and Los Angeles is fresh off putting up double-digits against Seattle on Sunday.

Rangers are 17-6 in their last 23 home games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants

Diamondbacks (-130, O/U 8): D-Backs starter Randy Johnson will be making his first appearance of the 2008 season. Johnson, rehabbing from back surgery, allowed 8 runs over 10 innings pitched in his 2 starts for Triple-A Tucson. The Big Unit said he almost felt like he was regressing during those rehab stints, but Johnson did have 8 strikeouts while allowing just 2 earned runs in his last appearance against the Giants.

D-Backs are 4-9 in their last 13 Monday games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Giants: Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez bounced back from a horrific first start on the season (7 ER 4 IP) in his most recent start, throwing 6 shut-out innings against the Padres in a 1-0 victory. Sanchez said he felt comfortable in front of the home crowd in that victory, however he has allowed 7 earned runs over his last 4 innings of work against the Diamondbacks.

Giants are 3-9 in their last 12 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD
