MLB Tips and Trends

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees

Red Sox: Boston's Clay Buchholz pitched well in his last outing against the Yankees, giving up just one run in 6.0 innings of work. However, Wang shut down the Red Sox, so Buchholz?s effort went for naught. Buchholz has only started six games but he?s slowly becoming one of baseball?s best young pitchers, sporting an ERA of 2.14 during his brief career.

Red Sox are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings.
The UNDER is 8-3 in Boston's last 11 games on grass.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Yankees (-150, O/U 9): New York's Chien-Ming Wang has pitched lights-out so far this season, going 3-0 with a minuscule 1.23 ERA. Wang already befuddled Boston once this year, pitching a complete game while allowing just two hits and one run. In his three wins, Wang has only given up three runs over 12 innings and batters are hitting a lowly .156 against him.

Yankees are 40-16 in their last 56 Wednesday games.
The UNDER is 8-1 in New York's last 9 games on grass.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Cincinnati Reds at Chicago Cubs

Reds: Cincinnati's Josh Fogg has split a pair of starts so far this season, failing to pitch more than 5 innings in either. Fogg has surrendered a total of 9 runs and 9 hits in 9 innings overall with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. He is an even 7-7 during his career against the Cubs to go along with a 5.69 ERA.

Reds are 8-2 in their last 10 Wednesday games.
Reds are 2-7 in their last 9 road games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Cubs (-210): Chicago's Carlos Zambrano will try to rebound from his first loss of the season at Philadelphia back home in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field. Zambrano has allowed just 2 runs in 13 2/3 innings at Wrigley so far this year, walking 1 and striking out 12. He is 10-9 lifetime vs. Cincinnati with a 3.39 ERA.

Cubs are 7-2 in their last 9 games on grass.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals

Brewers: Milwaukee's Carlos Villanueva will look to bounce back from his first loss of the season in his first road start. Villanueva's first 2 starts have both come at home, and the good news is that he was a slightly better pitcher on the road last season. He was 3-2 with a 3.70 ERA away from home in 2007 and is 2-1 lifetime vs. St. Louis with a 2.70 ERA.

Brewers are 10-5 in their last 15 games overall.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Cardinals (-130, O/U 8.5): St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainright is 1-1 in 9 appearances during his career against the Brewers with a 2.14 ERA. Wainright has scattered 8 hits in each of his first 2 starts of 2008 but has been fortunate to walk away with a 1-1 mark and 3.60 ERA, walking just 1 and striking out 10 in 15 total innings of work.

Cardinals are 15-4 in their last 19 games overall.
Cardinals are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres

Rockies: Colorado's Mark Redman is filling the role of the team's fifth starter right now - barely. Redman has failed to pitch a full 6 innings in either of his first 2 starts, giving up 8 runs and 16 hits in less than 11 total innings. He was lucky enough to get 7 runs of support while he was in the game last time out against Atlanta in an eventual 12-6 victory.

Rockies are 2-9 in their last 11 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD

Padres (-140, O/U 8.5): San Diego's Justin Germano has never beaten the Rockies in 5 career starts, going 0-3 with an inflated 8.34 ERA. Colorado is hitting .316 against him, which is twice as high as what he is allowing to 2 opponents this season (.152). Unfortunately, the Padres have scored just 1 run combined in his 2 starts totaling 13 innings, as he has walked away with a no-decision each time.

Padres are 18-8 in their last 26 home games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: TBD
